If you need firewire, stick with the old MacBook...
But the new MacBook is sleeker, and thinner.
I was complaining before about the no buttons in the trackpad but this one time when I was using it, I just used it with two hands as if the button was still there and it wasn't hard to use at all... But I don't know how you'd drag the scrollbar with one hand except pressing down and dragging, which is a pain in the butt.

use 2 finger scroll

i hope this hasn't been asked yet (but maybe it already has)

my battery has just started to expand, and so i've been having to keep the charger in
whenever i use it. without the charger, it stays on for about 45 minutes to an hour before
it turns off by itself. i know eventually i'm going to have to buy a new battery
($119 with discount -- yikes!)

just wanted to know if anyone has tips on how to keep the battery from expanding again.
and if i had applecare (which i wish i had) do you know if they replace the battery for free because
it is expanding? all the reviews on the apple website says that the macbook pro batteries have a
tendency to expand. :\

thanks!

Uhhh...I have a macbook...I think my externals speakers are screwed up. First of all there's no sound coming out of it...and while it does it, that earphone plug jack glows red....

anyone knows what this means? thanks!

I run boot camp on my macbook pro and it runs fine. Just make sure you have a legit copy of Windows or you'll hit a few snags when installing it.

I was wondering if anyone has/had a notebook case for their MacBook designed by apple? The ones they sell in the store with the really soft insides. Anyway, if so, may I get a review and some feedback on them, please? Thank you! smile.gif

My stupid idiot siblings were using my macbook while I was at work and when I came home, I found out they cracked the screen. Not physically but when you turn it on and the light is on, the screen looks cracked and there are all sort of colors coming from it.

My first thought was that okay, I need to go to an Apple store since I have warranty. Then I did some more research and that the Apple store doesn't cover for that sort of stuff. And it would cost about $900. That's insane!!

Have anyone experience through a broken macbook screen???????? What are the solutions?? I'm desperate.

I am about to go to the apple store to ask anyways if they can repair it for me because I have warranty....

thank you, I'd be very appreciated!

-edit-

I called Apple and they told me the protection thing only protects internal damage. sad.gif
what to do what to do???????????

I think my only solution is to buy a new LCD screen and replace the old one but I do not know how to do that...anyone who has experience in this?

^ I'm sad to hear your situation. I don't have any experience with this kind. $900 is a lot, a little bit more you can get a new white macbook.

I'm sorry I am not much of help. Hope you the best.

Does ANYONE have this problem?!?!?!
My macbook just started to go to sleep randomly, when I'm in the middle of something, like surfing the web on safari, watching movies, etc. A more accurate way of saying it would be it hibernates randomly. The screen would just black out, and I'd have to wait a couple of seconds till I press the trackpad, and then the screen comes back on. Fortunately, the data is still there, but it's annoying, especially if I'm doing something important for school, like typing a paper, or researching. I don't really understand why my macbook does this, it's not even a year old, yet! If ANYONE has any solutions, or has experience this, can you please tell me how to get rid of this problem, and give some positive feedback, please? I would be extremely grateful.

i think that happens to mine. i just close it and open it up again. laugh.gif not sure if that's what you're supposed to do though. i'm pretty sure you can adjust the energy saving settings to get rid of that problem. :/

Not sure if this was already asked... unsure.gif
After I installed some fonts on my macbook awhile back, the font Arial stopped working properly..
On soompi, when other users type in Arial, everything goes to caps. Then on youtube or Word, the font changes to this weird distortion of some sort. So I tried to fix it today by uninstalling it and then re-installing the font, but it's not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ^^"
Here's what the distortion looks like:

whoo mac =P

thought id give a shout out but to a lot of new and current mac users, keep in mind that your mac isnt limited to preinstalled apps

for example, a third party app id recommend to all is called smcFanControl

have you ever noticed that you never hear your fan? until the macbook gets burning hot and then you hear a burst of fan movement?
... thats bad for the laptop xD. keeping your laptop cool is tres important in maintaining overall performance and life of your laptop

what this app does is that it forces the fan to operate at a certain RPM (rotations per minute)(default for all macs is 2000 and max is 6000); it also shows the internal temperature of your macbook

SOOOOO in conclusion, if you know you're going to play games, or watch movies or especially run multiple programs, (you can make preset speeds too) set a fan speed and keep your macbook cool

that's a cool fact for all.

imo i think hard cases make them look fugly. i use incase neoprene sleeve which is probably the most common one i see. its crazy soft inside so no scratches and its has a nice mesh to prevent outside damage

merry christmas!

I use a sleeve, the neoprene sleeve as stated above. Its pretty nice and protects the exterior from scratches. I don't like the hard cases....
