Haha I'd really rather not... Do you know how big that thing is? -.-a I swear I should just sell it and buy a 17" MacBook Pro haha (j/k). Anyway I'm backing up files and then I'm going to format the computer. If it doesn't work after that, I'm so demanding a new iMac (I had problems with the screen before and had to take it to the genius bar before too). How many times do you have to go to the genius bar with a genuine problem until you get a replacement anyway? O_O

three, yeah I know what you mean. I thought about replacing mine with a LED Display and a 15 MBP, but from the not so great reviews of the LED Display I might stick with my imac for a bit longer.

you'll have to take it to some data recovery specilists, they are usually pretty expensive and it's not a 100% gurantee.

if you can afford it, also do note you can get it anytime within your first year, so you don't have to get it at the start.

1. Microsoft Word: Whenever I try to open it, it takes me to the setup assistant and word won't open. I'm really worried because I have a paper due on Monday
2. iChat: It won't sign on. Once in awhile it does, but then it shows everyone as offline and my buddy list empty and none of my friends can see me online. Then in a few seconds it logs me off.
3. Photoshop CS3: It won't let me open files. I don't know if its the program at fault or my mac.
4. Webcam: Won't even work.
I'm not very tech oriented and I tried to do that 'repair disk' thing on the disk utility someone told me to do but that doesn't work.

At last, I found the program I was looking for. It's called Kigo Video Converter and it converts a whole bunch of formats.

Yup, you can. You can also make your OS default to Korean if you like.

Go to System Preferences click on the International then click the Input Menu tab check mark Hangul and make sure you check mark Show input menu in menu bar then close System Preferences

Ooh I was able to get the Disk Utility on. I'm repairing the HDD right now... What should I do afterwards? I repaired the HDD and it says "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK." So it must not have been the problem... Ahh...
I had a similar problem of the laptop not reading the HD. I accidentally drop my macbook pro on the tile floor (1'-0" drop), where the standby light landed face first to the ground. When I try to turn on my laptop, it had to the standard start up screen with the white screen but the gray apple logo wouldn't show. It would have a blinking question mark folder. I read online that it was not recognizing the HD and many people brought the problem to Apple store and had to get a new HD, basically lost everything in their old HD. So I was freaking out because I had everything on my laptop and had not recently run Time Machine. I needed my files back big time for schoolwork. What I did next is (enter your own risk), I took my laptop apart and check on my HD, this was my first opening my laptop other than installing more memory. So I unscrew the holder for the HD and unplug the 3 connecters. After that I plug the connecters back to the HD and turn on my laptop again. It started fine like usual, I was cheering and thanking GOD. I guess the connection to the HD was loose, but I'm still not sure the what problem was which I don't care as long my macbook pro is working. Right now, I'm running Time Machine to backup my files.
In summary:
1) don't drop your laptop, handle it like a baby
2) run Time Machine when you have any free time
3) if the problem isn't fix, take it to the Apple store. You can try fixing it (enter with caution).

Summer days, why oh why on a summer day?
You were gone without saying goodbye.
Taking it all away.
No more summer days.

I never dropped my computer though -- and plus it's an iMac which is freaking heavy and pretty much stays glued to my desk. I tried using Time Machine but it was soooo slow that I gave up. I ended up formatting the computer after backing up files but my external hard drive was effed up (or my iMac did a terrible job copying the files) and a lot of the files were corrupt. I pretty much lost all my music and videos, but I have a good amount of my photos so I'm not complaining.

Yea, time machine does take up a lot of time. It's best to let it run during the day or while you're working.

Yeah, I'm thinking about selling my old MBP and getting the new one... Haven't decided on whether I want the 15.4" or 17" though.
Oh yeah, remember that problem I had with my iMac's screen flickering on and off? It's doing it again even though the LCD panel was replaced. I am getting so sick of lugging this stupid thing to the apple store
