@Pseudonym: About the adapter... yeah, it just happens. Maybe it's because my adapter and/or laptop is old-ish, but it's really nothing to worry about. Like right now, my adapter is charging, but there is no red light, it's just black like it's not in use. Sometimes it's green even though it's still charging. Other times it's red when it's done, like yours. It doesn't really matter as far as I can see, my mac is still alive and well.

Thanks for the reply. It actually turned green a little while after. I googled it and some said it could be the issue of the battery. You might want to check that out if you want smile.gif

okay well, i tried to burn a DVD on a Memorex DVD R+DL with Toast Titanium 10. i burned 2 dvds before and when i tried to burn another one today, it got this error:

The drive reported an error:
Sense Key = ILLEGAL REQUEST
Sense Code = 0x24
INVALIDFIELD IN CD8

well i already googled for it and some people said to delete the "com.apple.DiskUtility.plist" from my preferences. SO my question is, if i delete it does that mean that i cannot use disk utility anymore?

i'm so mad. this is mostly my fault for being careless for 2 seconds, but my aluminum macbook has these horrific gouges on the cover, i didn't mind the past few months because i put a skin on it and didn't think too much of it since. well, i took the skin off since i was tired of it and seeing the gouges got me upset again. i got a quote on the "cosmetic" fix, about $800, because the top cover is stuck to the glass panel and all. how frustrating is that! i almost want to just sell my mac and get a cheapy netbook.

^Aw that really sucks... Even having a smudge on my trackpad annoys me a little -- I can't imagine how annoying that would be. And I guess that's the sucky thing about the unibody laptops -- you have to pretty much replace the whole thing. Maybe you should sell it and upgrade or something! +_+

I don't know if anyone remembers but my iMac had a problem where the screen is blinking and parts of it are completely dark? Well I kept on holding off taking it to the apple store because it's such a PITA carrying the damn thing (24") and it's finally gotten to a point that I can't see the screen at all, period. I would take it to the apple store right away, but I need to back up my stuff first... Anyone have an idea? I'm thinking about hooking up the iMac to my MBP via firewire 800 and then hooking up my external hard drive to my MBP via USB, but I'm afraid the transfer speed would be too slow? I wish I could hook up the iMac to another screen or something but I don't have the cables to do that either.

T.T so...my macbook ran into that stupid famous apple problem where a crack forms on the palm rest area...near the bottom right.
i know tons of ppl have had this problem and was wondering what i should do now...will apple fix this for free for me??? (im not on applecare)

im honestly beginning to lose faith in apple/mac . i love how it runs and all but...it overheats so easily. i swear, if i open 3 youtube links, it overheats on me and makes that really loud noise. does this happen to anyone?
or like, even when i just open myitunes, it overheats.

what should i do?

^Why don't you take it to the genius bar? Take advantage of apple's great customer service.

My iMac's screen was dead for a couple of days but then it started working again on Friday so I was able to get everything backed up and I dropped it off at the apple store yesterday. Hopefully they can figure out the problem this time... Wonder if I can get an exchange in the future, since this is the second time I had to take it to the apple store. It's three strikes and an exchange, right? O_O

it looked exactly like this:

ALSO, now that im paranoid, i've searched around my macbook, and realized the top cover part is also starting to chip away
but i can guarantee none of this is my fault as i have never dropped my macbook...

ughhh, how can something that boasts exceptional quality have some much damage?!?!? it's only been 1.5 years

^Genius bar is the customer service/support that you get at apple stores. I think that they will fix that stuff for free because it's a known problem among MacBooks but I'm not 100% sure.

Apple has stated it was a poor design quality flaw and they would replace any macbook with palmrest damage even if you are out of warrenty, so take your laptop to your nearest apple store and show it to them.

So I took my iMac to the Genius Bar and of course it works perfectly fine, even though the screen was dead for the past 3-4 days or so. They told me to come pick it up today so I did, unhappily. I also upgraded to the 17" MacBook Pro because the glossy screen on the 15" MacBook Pro bugged me SO MUCH. Even though the 17" MBP is gigantic, I still love it. Now if my iMac would stop hating me... sleep.gif

They let you return the 15" MBP for the 17" MBP?

No way. I had to sell it on-line and then buy the 17" -- it's a PITA but better than that glossy screen.

Hey guys. I'm thinking about getting a Macbook this summer, but I have a few questions.

What's the difference between the white one and the aluminum one? I like the white one more, but only for aesthetic reasons xD. A previous poster said that it's more worth it getting the aluminum one, but why is that?

Also, there are some programs I run that aren't available for Macs, so I was also going to get Windows, but I'm a bit confused with how running Windows on a Mac works. I know you can run some parallel program, but is that necessary. What I'm saying is, if you want to do something on Windows, then switch to Apple's OS, do you just turn off the computer and restart it?

to answer your 2nd question, you can buy a program like VMWare Fusion or Parallels Desktop to run both OS at the same time. if you just want to run Windows on its native speed, you can just use Boot Camp which comes with Leopard and all you have to do is set some off some space on your HD for windows, and install the the things it tells you to do and you're set. and from windows all you have to do is find the boot camp link to restart into the Apple OS. and from Apple to windows you just have to restart and hold down the option key and choose which OS you want to run.

So they fixed my iMac and replaced the processor, video card, and inverter cable, but it came dirty and had scratches and dents I had never seen before sleep.gif So they're replacing the silver casing part -- it's like I'm getting a brand new computer except the parts are getting replaced one by one slowly. Sigh.

I think my Macbook Pro is simply the best decision I have ever made.
that being said, does anyone know if I can get a AppleCare after the initial warrenty's been out for like a few months?
