JACK!!!

I'm now a proud new owner of a Macbook Pro....FINALLY!! It's exciting because it's my first mac (sadly, even though I am a designer). But I asked my boss for a mac, and he said yes!! YAY! I got a magenta colored casing for it, so it matches my iPod nano.

OMG, that's awesome! How do you like it!?! Where do you work?!? (I actually work in a .NET shop, so I'm on a Windows machine all day...it's quite sad sad.gif But, my immediate coworkers are Mac users, as well as a few PM/BAs ...so our skype chats typically turn into one large Windows-bash-fest.)
I am on FaceBook. Ninja mode, tho. So PM me with your details and I'll add you ;D

So I filled out the survey like j79 told me to, and I made a call to the apple store. I talked to the manager over the phone and I'm seeing her tomorrow. I've explained that tomorrow would be my 11th visit to the genius bar but I don't think I'm getting an exchange since the iMac's only had like, 2 problems (once the hard drive just died the second time this whole screen fiasco). I think I came out sounding really whiny sleep.gif I could feel that the manager (who was a woman) was faking sympathy.

Hopefully something good will come out of the meeting! A bit off topic, but how do you like your M8?

I went to the apple store to pick up my iMac. There's still at least one piece of dust inside and it looks like a dead pixel. I wanted to talk to the manager I talked with yesterday but I got a different manager. He basically said the same thing that the genius said and told me to live with it -__- I don't know what to do now. I feel like I'm making a mountain out of a molehill and I still feel like I got crappy customer service.

realistically the only way u can get no dust is to send your imac into apple so they can do it in a clean room.

My mouse pad on my macbook is kinda weird. Its raised or dented in some areas and it doesn't look flat like other macbooks.

I think my 1-year warranty ends next month since I bought it last year (and all macs come with one year warranty right o_o?) Do you think they'd do anything if I brought it in? And do I have to bring my receipt?

Thanks for solving the webcam problem, but do you think they'd do anything since my mouse track is raised/lowered in some areas? Its been like this since I got it last year, but I didn't do anything because I thought that was normal until I saw my friend's macbook :X. To me it feels like the mouse track isn't glued down properly and it might come off.

I just had my HD replaced at the apple store. Then the genius guy told me that they can't give back my old HD, so I asked him what they do with it. He said that they usually recycle old HDs. So now, I'm just concerned with my old files coz since my HD crashed on me, I never emptied out my HD before letting it be replaced. I've backed up my files before, but then, since they recycle HDs that means other people can still access my files??

I wasn't paranoid by it, but then, my dad kept on bugging me about identity thefts...

They don't recycle it like that. I believe they actually break down the parts. They don't simply fix someone's HDD and give it to someone else.

that's just the way it is...

i know for some sites like newegg if you buy a monitor or computer or something you have to have a certain number of dead pixels before they'll let you exchange it...I dunno what the right number is but for example - the minimum is 6 and you only have 5 then you gotta live with it =(

yea at least they took a look at it.

true as that maybe, I find that unacceptable. If i pay the same amount of money as John Doe who gets his without any dead pixels I should have 0 dead pixels as well. Usually if I've found any on any laptops I've ordered in the past i make some BS story how the backlight bleeding is unacceptable and blah blah blah I can get a replacement usually smile.gif

i have quite a few questions:
-how do i change the names of songs in itunes? when i had a pc, i would right click and choose options to change the name
i haven't the slightest idea how to do this with a mac... (still getting used to one button)
nvm... one finger on track pad and click once XD!
-what program can i use to extract .rar files?
-what's a good media converter for video files so i can put videos on my ipod?

thanks!

I use iSquint to convert video files for my ipod, and I use UnRarX to extract .rar files.
I'm still a mac noob so there might be better programs out there, but those two do the trick for me (:

question: how can I run internet explorer on my mac (without boot camp or virtual machine)?
I used to use bootcamp, but my hard drive crashed & I didn't back it up (and I don't have the windows CD, I borrowed it from an acquaintance).
I know there's that crappy internet explorer 5 for mac, but is there an upgraded version? or is there anyway I can run window apps without BC/VM?

You're probably wondering why I would want to use internet explorer in the first place..It's because of all the korean websites that require IE -__-

V no problem and thanks! I'll probably going to go with parallel or boot camp again, the only problem is finding someone who has a windows installer CD.

Just joining in, been a mac user for about 6-7 years, I honestly don't remember. Currently I have a mac mini (not home right now so idk the specs) and a 13" black macbook core duo 2.2ghz + 1.67gb ram. Will probably be getting another mac mini soon to keep in the living room to watch movies smile.gif
