The text in my dashboard weather and calendar looks really weird. It's all misaligned and outlined. Restarting the widgets didn't fix anything.

Anyone know what's wrong??

^ sorry, don't know why your computer is doing that e_____e it would freak the mini cooper out of me cause I just got my macbook this summer for college...

side note: I decided to name my MacBook Calcifer(Cal for short) after the flame demon character in the movie Howl's Moving Castle <3

In any case.. the specs:
Aluminum 13'' MacBook / Version 10.5.8 / 2 GHz / Intel Core 2 Duo / 4 GB / 1067 MHz DDR3

Also... just a tip for those new to Macs: the site My First Mac REALLY helped a lot.
First of all, the things they talk about make sense, and especially the switch over due to program differences was really easy thanks to them. I definitely recommend giving the articles a read(most, if not all) if you really want to make the most use out of your Mac.
I have changed accounts, so please direct all PMs from now on to: dreamerism

So today, my mbp just froze, and I freaked. I pressed the on/off button, and I couldn't click 'restart'. I couldn't click on ANYTHING, and the only thing that seemed to be working was the scroll.

I think something's up with my touch pad... It doesn't make the 'click' noise when I press it... Although the sound was annoying, I'm just suspicious when things change.

I just got my mbp like less than a month ago... Should I go make a visit to the apple store?

Is it still doing that? The problem with the apple store is that unless they actually see the computer problem themselves, they won't believe you and they won't do anything about it. I had some LCD issues with my iMac and told them it would sometimes blink and they didn't believe me so I had to take it back home without any repair. After I had a video recording of the problem, they finally believed me and virtually gave me a new iMac (replaced all the components)l

13" Macbook
2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 800MHz DDR2 SD-RAM - 2x2GB
320GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400rpm
PRICE: $1310.00 CAD

13" Macbook Pro
2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB 800MHz DDR2 SD-RAM - 2x1GB
160GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400rpm
PRICE:$1299.00 CAD

I'm looking into buying either a MB or MBP for university but I'm still undecided.
My budget is around $1400.00, so if I buy the MB I'm able to configure a few things, definitely the hard drive and I'm borderline whether I should upgrade the RAM from 2 to 4GB? However, if I buy the MBP, I'll buy it as is because it'll be way over my budget to configure anything.
Which do you guys recommend MB or MBP?
And if MB than what things should I configure and what should I leave?
Thanks.

What do you plan on using it for, will you be bringing it to class?

You should buy the MBP and upgrade the hard drive and memory somewhere else (newegg and tigerdirect just to name a couple). Apple OVERCHARGES on upgrades which I think is stupid.

Also, look into refurbished models cause they are CHEAPER and practically brand new.
Also, buy one during the summer promotion and you get yourself a free iPod touch.
If you don't want the touch, sell it on eBay or craigs and the cost of your new laptop is CHEAPER smile.gif
Currently Using: Apple iPhone 4 White 32GB, Apple MacBook Pro 17" Quad-core i7 8GB 128GB SSD and Apple iPad 2 White 32GB
If you need any assistance with phones, gadgets, relationship help, etc., please follow me on twitter or dailybooth and leave a line!

I'll be using it mostly for word processing, research, etc - the usual studious things and perhaps stream videos or watch DVDs when I'm slacking off; no gaming though, unless it's the rare occasion but it's unlikely. I'll be bringing it to class, so I need something (light and) sturdy, but there doesn't seem to be much of a difference in their weights according to the Apple website.

I've never heard of those websites, if I were to buy the MBP and upgrade it elsewhere then how would I go about that? Sorry, I'm technological noob haha. Well, the current promotion is a "free" 3in1 printer, priced at ~ $100 and I'm looking to buy one soon so the summer promotion is too long of a wait.

Alright, thanks.
Do you think I should configure the hard drive and RAM or just buy the Macbook as it is?
Sorry for asking so many questions. ph34r.gif

I think u got enough HD and RAM for what u want to do, however if u got more $$ to spend, spend it on the RAM first and u can always buy an external HD later on if u need more space.

However like someone said before, it'll be cheaper to buy ram elsewhere and install it yourself. Perhaps you have a friend who's a bit tech-savy who can help you? If not just get it from apple to save you the headache.

I noticed cracks forming at the edge of my macbook, near the wrist rest & the touch pad.. so I did some Googling and found out that it's a common problem for white Macbooks. I called the Apple Store near my university and they said they'll fix it for free. YAY! The only problem I have is that they told me they'd have to keep it for 3-4 days, but I can deal with that.

it was one of those things where apple will replace your cracked palmrest even if it was out of warranty. it was one of those "recall" things.
