that made me giggle too! haha but i have a question
is there anything else besides time capsule that is just as reliable to back up my files? i prefer something affordable because i'm so broke right now :[
i don't want my mac to crash this upcoming school year because it crashed twice last year and it was a pain in the butt. also, i'm clueless to GB and all that stuff but i know i don't NEED that much space so that's another reason why i probably didn't want time capsule. well thanks in advance!

I have a macbook and that's what I'll be using when I'm in college.
When do you think they'll make MSN messenger withwebcam and handwriting features mac compatible?
T_T
Lool.
Oh and.. Do you guys know if the freeware for mac works well?
And what's that one program called where it's like camming and talking through mac.. Not Ichat but like.. Ah I don't remember.
OH.
And how can I move my itunes on PC to my itunes on macbook? o.O
Yeah all these questions just show how new I am to a macbook.
Oh wellll, gotta ask some time, so might as well ask here.

Apple just released the latest Macbook Pro with updated intel chipsets so i don't expect much upgrading to be done within a year but keep in mind the computer industry moves fast and you can see updates as quick as within 6-9 months but i don't think you will see a major upgrade from Apple within the year...but if you don't NEED the laptop this year you might as well wait until you go to college.
or is the macbook pro 2.5ghz with 4gb a lot better?
You will need to consider the price differences as well as the other specs. Pretty much all you're getting for the extra $500 in the 2.5Ghz model is a better graphics card which, unless you do a lot of hardcore gaming you will not need. In my opinion save yourself the $500 and get the 2.4Ghz model. 2.4Ghz to 2.5Ghz is not a noticeable difference in speed. Upgrading to 4GB RAM will make the most difference.
Laptops in general are a pain to upgrade as everything is compacted for space conservation. Upgrading the processor is definitely a pain as you would have to reapply the heat glue, etc. definitely not for a novice. Also, i'm pretty sure if you open the laptop you void the warranty.

I just got the latest Macbook Pro 15", absolutely love it. Although there are some quirky errors like once in a while the computer won't wake from sleep properly but only happens rarely.

They have released Messenger 7 for Mac with some new features but AV is not yet supported. I would read this topic about the status on that.

Read this tutorial if you don't have a HUGE library.
If you have a huge (like 40GB or something) you can try this tutorial instead.

For a couple hundred you can buy a firewire external HD that Time Capsul can use for back up.

Joon, pretty much replied to everything, but just to simplify it.
If you're thinking about macbook pro, go for it. It's probably not gonna get upgraded anytime soon, since it just was a couple of months back.
If you're thinking about macbook, there's A LOT of rumors that they're gonna be redesigned/upgraded, so I would wait.
Personally, I was going to buy macbook air this summer, but decided to wait it out and see what all the hype is about this rumor about the new macbooks and wait to see if there will be an upgraded version of macbook air as well. I think if I hold out for one more year, either the macbook air will get significantly better to the point that I wouldn't mind blowing away nearly 2000 bucks for it or the redesigned macbooks would capture my attention instead so that I can save a good 1k.

And yes stoner beans, it wil convert the flash videos you get from youtube, however..
I reccomend that you go to keepvid.com and add that tab thing to ur bookmarks/tab bar so that everytime ur watching a video on youtube all u gotta do is hit the button/tabbed link and it takes you to a direct download link. The high quality version saves to an .m4p file so u can just throw it in i-tunes with ease, instead of having to convert the file. if u want I can post up a tutorial, when I'm at my MBP. I'm writing this on my blackberry and it's rather inconvienent cause of the small buttons and my big thumbs.

I like using Quicktime over VLC because QT retains the font styling for a lot of the subs especially when watching anime or soft subs.

in general, Apple for the past several years, has released new notebooks around Late August to early October.
but not to make you feel bad, at least people who buy now (using their student discount) can get a free ipod touch.

It will convert just about all of the basic, avi, wmv, flv files... It definitely doesn't do all the hardcore ones like .ogg and all that other crazy stuff.. but for me.. it handles just about everything I need.
