Does any one know how to treat damaged hair?

-- Split Ends

-- Dryness

-- the bottom of the hair damaged and rough from straightning irons

** is there some kind of treatment that can be done at korean hair salons?

I heard that if you put honey on your head and sit in the sun for about 2 hours then wash it , it REALLY makes your hair shiny and smooth. Catherine Zeta Jones does that often and her hair is really nice!

you can get a hot oil treatment. it feels softer than before. but of course you need to do it several times to get great results. or, if you don't mind spending a lot of money, you can go get straightened. i have the same exact problem and it sucks.. :\ my mom won't let me get it straightened so i do hot oil treatments sometimes.

fIRST if it's damaged from straightening, try to cut back on the straightening and heat (blow dryers, curling irons). If you can't Live with out flat ironing your hair, then Please Please use a heat protectant! There are lots of good brands and they are not expensive. YOu can even find them at CVS, walgreens, etc for like $6 or less. Do the hot oil treatments (use some olive oil-yes the cooking kind) apply to hair, let it sit for a while-30 min or longer. Then rinse and shampoo in the shower. this is great for hair and natural. You can also try avocado,honey-adds shine. You can also buy deep conditioners for the hair. There are some that are $3 or less that are great. I've improved my hair 200%. even the stylist noticed. because my hair was horrible and dry with tons of split ends. Also don't shampoo everyday. maybe every other day or like 2x week. Use conditioner instead. Just wash with conditioner, it will soften the hair. Hope this helps.

sally's beauty supply, cholesterol hot oil treatment. it really brings your hair back and only $2. you can also you conditioning hair masks (different from leave ins)... this is a thick mud coating of conditioner and junk that gives your hair some life back. and just try not to put any heat on it for awhile or dye. oohh and when you wash your hair, use really hot water to open up it up, use plenty of conditioner and wash it out with ice cold water to close in the moisture. and don't shampoo too often, condition as much as possible though. =) hope it helpsss. ^.~

Split ends: chop em off. You can't save them. Theres no way to stick them back together lol

Dry hair: conditioning treatments. I like Terax original crema since it can double as a daily conditioner.

Also make sure to use some kind of heat protectant when you use heat styling.

oooh lots of good info in this topic, my hair is a MESS. i have all three, split ends, dryness and fried ends from straightening it. YIIIKES.

im using this cream by garnier fructus, it's supposed to "re-seal" your split ends and prevent new ones... i don't think its working though.

I dont think there is a product that works like magic. My best suggestion is to grow your hair out. My hair used to be so damaged from dying, bleaching, drying, straightening, etc.. But I grew it out and looks alot better now. I do recommend John Frieda frizz ease, if its frizzy or Garnier Fructis.

You can get an intense reconditioning treatment at your salon but I think it's something like $200/session. The downside of this though is that they use chemicals to condition your hair. Your best bet would be to just do an at-home treatment. I use Garnier Fructis 3-Minute Conditioning Mask. It makes my hair really soft and shiny.

As for the split ends, you can't save them so get a trim!

Coconut milk or cream on dry and unwashed hair.
"Cover the hair with a shower cap. Blow the hair through the cap with as much heat as you can tolerate or leave it alone for an hour or two. Rinse the coconut milk in the shower till the water runs clear. Wash the hair with shampoo and follow with conditioner if you use it."

I haven't tried it yet, as I read about it yesterday; but I'll def do it this week.

You can get coconut milk at any Asian supermarket. My mom actually cooks with it all the time and she gets it canned or in powder form.

Chop off your split ends. I doubt any product can "re-seal" them. I use a deep conditioning treatment twice a week. Lol, I just picked the prettiest looking bottle.

ahh this is really interesting smile.gif thanks for all the tips!

well around 2 years ago, I went to Chinese salon to magic-straight my hair (before that, it was pretty frizzy ><). then this summer I went to U.S. salon to magic-straight again.

now that it's fading away, i don't know what to do for the summer wacko.gif should i magic straight it again? or go to the salon for hair treatment? or should i just do those oil treatments you mentioned?

i think magic-straight is bad =.=' since it's adding chemicals to your hair. plus, it costs a lot of money and the more times that you do it, the worse it gets.

please help huh.gif thanks!

haha~ hmm. well I don't really have problems with that.. very much.. ish.. >< haha~

BUT!

I just saw this thing on tv where these women from some country had REALLY long and shiny, healthy hair.. so they said that they keep it all shiny and what-not because they use rice water to wash it~ O_O.. haha

In korean it's 쌀뜨물 (ssahl-ddeuh-mool).. it's the water that you get from washing rice... =)

What you do, is you take that water and leave it to settle(?) for about a week.. and on tv they put it in a container near this fire.. O_O.. so if you want you can put it in the oven or something~
after all that~ wash your hair with the water... and then you rinse it off with normal water.. that's it. done. =).. <i'd do it for a couple weeks for results =T>

I dunno if you wanna try it, but if you do~ hope it helps~ ^-^

(just to tell you.. I never tried it.. O_O.. I just saw it on tv~ so don't get mad if it doesn't work! >0<~)
