What should I do? Everytime I try to click on a avi or anything, my computer would freeze.

Thats an extremely strange problem you have. Do you have old AVI files that behave the same for you? Like cause your computer to crash when you click it...
My best bet is your AVI file is corrupted, more specifically the first few frames so its confusing your computer. My second guess is your codecs (divx, xvid) are so old that they're causing you problems.
