Honors and AP are pretty much the same lol.
It depends on the student.
Some of mai friends just skimp throught the chapter and still A the test with extra credit.

The only big different o see is our Math department. We study our arses off for tests lol

AP students should get higher GPA bc we're doing it for college credit, for school reputations, and bc we rock? lolll sweatingbullets.gif

AP Classes helps me to study more and think more. XD

Honors students are expected to study ____ hours for a test
To me, I believe about 1-2 hours.

AP students are expected to study ____ hours for a test

You know it, 2-3 hours but if you really want to pass the test.
People tend to study more than 5 hours. x_x

How did honors and AP classes differ for you?

They're almost the same but AP classes think deeper and the classes goes in a faster pace.

AP classes tend to get more done in a shorter amount of time because we need to prepare for the AP test in May.
I find that the AP classes also have more people who actually care about the class because they are expected to do more work (and take the test come May) whereas a lot of honors kids take honors classes just to have it on their transcript.
Furthermore, honors teachers have room to slack off, AP teachers don't, not to mention, they tend to be the best teachers in the school.
All in all though, it really depends on the teacher. My AP Euro teacher is a slacker, but he definitely knows his subject and is able to give assignments that are actually fun/interesting without him having to do much work (he hates grading papers, you can imagine how much he despises giving FRQ's or DBQ's). Therefore, we are expected to do much of the work by ourselves. That's pretty much the same with most of the other AP classes, Chemistry, Physics, Spanish, English, US History. We're expected to do much of the work by ourselves and in turn, we have the guidance of great teachers to get us prepared for the actual test.
AP Classes in my school have a much heavier workload than honors classes and I do believe that we should be rewarded for our labor but since colleges don't even accept weighted grades, I don't see why they need to have them in school, all the honors/AP kids need to constantly recalculate our GPA's in order to see what what the colleges will see.
Hours of study is different for everyone, but their is definitely more to study and analyze in AP classes than honors classes. I barely did any work in my honors classes but had to work five times as hard in AP classes to get the same grades.

at my school, the levels go from regular, to honors, to GT (gifted & talented), to AP.
Honors is like the BS level where you get like open-note tests and watch a lot of videos and don't do anything in class.
GT is where all of the smart kids are in. AP is then the hardest level available since it is prepping you for the AP class.
I was never in honors but i know the workload for GT/AP is def. hard. ap teachers joke about their honors classes because even to them its funny how much of a difference the intelligence level is between the levels.
i didnt answer the questions about the hours for tests because 1. i wasnt in honors and 2. i dont think how difficult ap vs. honors is will depend on how many hours you study. ap kids tend to be much smarter and therefore study even less because they just learn it during class unless its like a huge 3 chapter test which requires a lot of time to go over.. honors kids are generally lazier/less motivated (at my school) and will either end up not studying, just take notes since it will be open-note, or study furiously. it all depends on the student.

What are your views?
AP classes are for college credit, so usually harder and require more work

Honors students are expected to study ____ hours for a test
I never study for my honors classes, so I wouldnt know.

AP students are expected to study ____ hours for a test
I cram for 5+ hours the night before ^^;

How did honors and AP classes differ for you?
AP classes go at a way faster pace and actually require me to work. unlike the honors classes that i've been able to cruise through since 8th grade smile.gif

For math, honors and ap are the same. Gotta study ass off. But for others, they might differ except for English. CP English and AP English, ironic thing is at our school the CP English students get more work, LOL. It's true...In my AP Lit class, I only had like 15-45 mins hw a night and that's only to read or do a review-something(somtimes I even do the hw during school and dont have hw at all). I think our school though is more well focused in the science and math department(our science olympiad team is 3rd in regionals)...the english is crap(only 50% pass rate for AP lit exam, iono about Lang&comp). Social Science is okay...

Honors students are expected to study ____ hours for a test
depends on your ability.

AP students are expected to study ____ hours for a test
depends on your ability. some are quicker in understanding than others.

How did honors and AP classes differ for you?
Hmm..I would say AP is a lot harder and a lot faster paced.

Um, from the honors and AP classes I take, the honors classes are just as hard.

My math class is honors and it's a lot harder than AP Stats, which I'm also taking.

depends on the class... at my school

honors U.S. History is like AP in disguise (there's no AP U.S. History at my school), and a lot of people actually go on to take the AP exam

honors (actually they call it pre-AP) American Literature is quite tough

AP Biology is TOUGH

AP Psychology is easy

honors math is stupid. people fool around and don't know anything. and it's Honors Pre-Calculus. hope those idiots go on to AP Calc AB while the decent ones and I go on to AP Calc BC
