what are the chances for getting into a school if you didn't complete ALL the classes on assist? for example different schools have different requirements and you wanna focus on one school's requirements but also want to apply to the other schools

usually most of the pre reqs for the UCs are going to be very similar. some uc's like UCLA and UCB require more pre-reqs to be completed for your intended major. if you're aiming for ucla and ucb.. try to cover all the pre reqs that are required.

for example, im an english major and i made this chart off of assist.org

i think making a chart like this will be very helpful

oh and to be safe.. you shouldn't miss more than one pre req...... depending on your major that is. if its an impacted major.. try to complete ALL of them

If your major is impacted, then you should focus on completing all your pre-reqs before you transfer (before the summer for UCLA/Cal).
BTW thats a good spreadsheet. Also, completing IGETC isn't important if you're in a major that has a ton of pre-reqs.

well, i'm a business major and some schools require certain computer classes and its very out of the way to take that class for that one specific school since it doesn't apply at all for the other. only accounting and econ are similar throughout all the schools

i believe business & business econ are very impacted majors for ucla and ucb. haus school for business at uc berkeley is really hard to get into. its important to finish ALL the pre reqs for ucla & ucb.

i'm guessing you want to apply to those schools, but if not, still try to complete all of them. but i'm sure the other uc's will be more lenient over one missing pre req.

i would suggest you save that one class for your last semester at cc...
that's if you change your mind about taking the course.

i would focus on that at least 3 UC pre requisites, even if they are all different. its better safe than sorry

If you're planning to get into Haas, good luck. They only accepted around 65 students last year out of 4000+ admits, and the 25th percentile of applicants were 3.81+ gpa. You must complete ALL your business pre-reqs prior to transfer and then focus on IGETC afterwards.

I just got rejected from the school I really wanted to go to (UW in seattle). It's sad but I'll get over it.
Now I am going to Seattle Central CC. I want to major in history.
Does anyone have any advice for me? I feel like anything anyone tell me right now is a big help.

does anyone NOT recommend me to take a math and a chemistry class during the summer? Would it be too much for me to handle?

Why double major? Most recruiters don't care if you double majored, might as well go for a masters.

Totally depends on how "smart" you are. If you are generally good with math and chem based classes, then go for it. What kind of math level are we talking? Calc1? II? Linear Algebra? Chemistry isn't really difficult, just time consuming (unless you are doing Ochem).

No, not really. If it's going to kill your GPA, then theres no point in double majoring. If you really do want to double major, then go for something like Psychology or English. It's a lot of work for nothing if you aren't truly interested in it.

Well I dont understand what you're asking. What do YOU want to do with your life? Then major in something you like. No major can guarantee you a job, but engineering and tedious majors yield the highest rate of jobs out of school. If you major in Psychology, then obviously you would be interested in becoming a psychologist or something to do within that field. In the end, if you want a high paying job right out of school, go for engineering and graduate with a high GPA. You won't get anywhere with a rather infelicitous gpa.

The only way to get your grade up from C's is by getting straight A's for awhile (with a large amount of units). A lot of C's fu*cks up your chances of transferring to a 4 year school and getting a good job.

couldnt i just take a bunch of electives to get them A's so my gpa look good? if i wanna transfer,do UNIS look at each class grade and not just overall right? same with jobs too right?

Universities look at your cumulative GPA, your overall GPA. C's essentially kill your GPA with low units (most universities cap units at 60 pretransfer). Make sure the classes you take actually "transfer" and aren't just elective classes that don't count towards transfer credit. Jobs look at your overall also, they don't focus on specific grades unless its your major GPA. These questions your asking me makes me wonder what you've been doing for the past year or so...you should have discussed this with a counselor. GPA is very impacted in transferring and getting a job.

Universities only look at the transferable GPA and not the cumulative, so 4 year institutes wont look at grades from remedial classes such as Intermediate Algebra. they'll js factor in the transferable GPA for admissions so no need to worry if you get C's in non transferable courses. & yeah i agree, C's are definite killers.
