So I've been cramming to finish my IGETC requirements (all i have left is Art, and I'm a Freshman, but my schedule no longer has time for an Art..), and my counselor said I've been wasting my time because I'm a Biochem major?? I'm really confused and don't want my counselor to be screwing me over..

So does anyone know if I have to finish IGETC? Or if it's for those of lower unit majors, because I'm a second semester freshman with 50+ units. And yes, i'm planning on transferring to a UC.

Nevermind, nevermind. I read that in intensive majors such as Biological Sciences, Engineering, etc. IGETC is unnecessary to complete, and the student should instead concentrate on completion of lower-division classes. But thank you for your help!

i applied to nyu and georgetown university, so im still waiting for those which are coming in june 1st ugh
i reallllllllly wanted to go to georgetown but its so expensive we will see. But its UCLA for me! yay

I'm barely skating by with 61 units (taking Statistics now... if I screw up, I'm screwed) @ 3.5 GPA.
Not really much extracurricular activities but in the military for 3 years and a deployment.
I didn't even know you could apply to schools in the east coast as a CC transfer... I don't think I would have gone though; too many benefits as a California resident in UC's to miss out on.

yeah applying to east coast is really annoying, but its a school that i really wanna go to besides ucla
i guess i wanted to go somewhere new and start fresh, that sort of thing u know?
yeah im killing myself right now, taking a lot of classes and finishing up my honors courses
im from socal, i go to pierce college in the san fernando valley and also SMC in santa monica
ucla is like 30 minutes away from here lol. where are u located?

Was stationed in other states after high school and what I saw was that it's really different from Cali if you've lived here all your life (both good and bad). (New Jersey.... stay away! jk) I'm up in Nor-Cal near Sac-town going to Sac City. Seeing how I only applied to UC's, looks like I'll be going here. Can't wait to get to So-Cal.... =) What are ya'll gonna do about housing?

Well, I wanted to be in the dorms till I read this:
Note: Housing in a specific facility or room type is not part of the Housing Guarantee. Most transfer students who live on campus will be assigned to triple rooms.
3 people cramped in a tiny room....no thanks.
If that really is the case, I'll probably have to stay in the UCLA apt. Is the process the same thing as dorms though? (Where they just room you up with someone else? Or will I have to go out and find someone?)

^ theres a form that u can fill out when u apply for an apt at ucla. they ask u bunch of questions of what kind of habits u have and what kind of roommate that you would prefer, nonsmoking, what time would u most likely sleep etc. u can put down your friend's name if you want to room with them or just go random.

yeah they give firrst priority to freshmans or so i have heard, which really sucks for us

My major was Theatre and my GPA was about 3.6.
UCLA only chooses 30 people from the Theatre majors, so it's pretty tough and I screwed up the interview.

Ok so I found out that my 2d design class does transfer to UC, but it doesn't go into the IGETC. Does it still effect me in any way? So if I withdraw, it'd still effect me huh?

I'm also in a dilemma. I decided to major in Aerospace Engineering just recently, and this is my 2nd semester at a CC. So far I've got 24 credits of GED for IGETC. The pre-reqs for Aerospace Engineering at UCSD are three calculus classes, two physics classes, computer programming class, and one chemistry class. Other UC's will include another two math classes. Would I need to finish all of my pre-reqs before applying to UCSD? It'd take me probably another 2-3 years to finish them all =/
