I was looking at the prereq's for UCLA, UC Berkeley, etc.,
and I came across what California calls "A-G Requirements" (listed below)
It says that 1 year of visual/performing art (choir, dance, art, etc) is required.

I know this applies to ALL California students,
but does this also apply to out-of-state students who want to
apply for a UC school? Specifically, UCLA, UC Berekely..etc?

This is what UCLA's page says:
QUOTE
The applicant’s full record of achievement in college preparatory work in high school, including the number and rigor of courses taken and grades earned in those courses. Consideration will be given to completion of courses beyond the University’s a-g minimums;

Does this mean that the students who only meet these a-g requirements will be considered?
Hmm that may sould like a dumb question, but I just want to make sure.

These are the A-G Requirements..for those who don't know:
a l History/Social Science – 2 years required
b l English – 4 years required
c l Mathematics – 3 years required, 4 years recommended
d l Laboratory Science – 2 years required, 3 years recommended
e l Language Other than English – 2 years required, 3 years recommended
f l Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) – 1 year required
g l College Preparatory Electives – 1 year required

Thanks for helping me out (:

Yes, I'm pretty sure that means that only applicants who fulfill the a-g requirements will be considered. Even out-of-state students.
Since that is what it says on the UCLA website, and it doesn't say anything about an exception for out-of-state students.

yeah the A-G isn't a california requirement, it's a requirement for the UC system for any applicant. from what i've heard from friends and my counselors, they won't even consider you if you don't have the minimum requirements down. i would really recommend you do the "recommended years" instead of the minimum. people who take the recommended years seem more likely to get into the top UCs, among my friends anyways. the arts requirement should be pretty easy to complete... i'm assuming your school has art or music courses. taking an art course is the easiest way to complete that requirement. oh yeahh... UCLA and UC berkeley are taking a holistic approach to its applicants so make sure you have extracurricular and all that other good stuff. they want well-rounded students! happy.gif=b
