They wrote songs about cheating with each others gfs? *confused*
Ah jealous... I haven't heard the other two bands though. Where You Want To Be is great, I like A Decade Under the Influence and This Photograph Is Proof best

Sorry I wasn't more specific. It was late last night when I posted that...
The drama between Brand New and TBS band members goes WAYYY back, and appears to have not only lasted for a long time but has also been the inspiration between a lot of stabs at each other and awesome lyrics.
The song I was talking specifically about was Brand New's
Seventy Times 7 and Taking Back Sunday's
There's No "I" in Team.
Supposedly, both songs are about a dispute that happened a LONG time ago between Jesse Lacy (BN) and John Nolan (TBS).
Taking Back Sunday's song was supposedly written as a response to
Seventy Times 7 (note: the Biblical reference of how many times you should forgive someone) which was an expression of how Lacey felt towards Nolan when he discovered that his gf had cheated with Nolan. And If you listen to each song carefully, you will also hear that they both contain the same lyrics: "Is that what you call tact, you're as subtle as a brick in the small of back..." which were the supposed last words Lacey spoke before hanging up on Nolan after he admitted to sleeping his girlfriend.
There's No "I" in Team was written by Nolan expressing his side of the story, and also his desire for the past to be the past and just move on ("Well I can't regret, [can't you just forget it?]").
I would say just listen to each song. You can kind of feel that they are related whether it is in the lyrics or the kind of aggression/sadness/frustration both songs exude.
Brand New
QUOTE
Is that what you call tact?
You're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back
So let's end this call and end this conversation
And is that what you call a getaway?
Tell me what you got away with
'Cause you left the frays from the ties you severed
when you say, "best friends means friends forever"
Taking Back Sunday
QUOTE
Is this what you call tact?
I swear you're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back
so let's end this call,
and end this conversation
there's nothing worse...
(that's right he said,)
[Have another drink and drive yourself home.]
I swear, you have no idea
(That's right he said it)
[I hope there's ice on all the roads.]
The jealousy that became me thinking
(That's right he said)
[And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt,]
that you always had it way too easy
[And again when your head goes through the windshield.]
The choruses of both songs are very telling too.
QUOTE
Everyone's caught on to everything you do
Everyone's caught on to...
(and I can't let you let me down again)
Everyone's caught on to everything you do
(and I can't let you let me down again)
Everyone's caught on to...
QUOTE
Broken down in bars and bathrooms
All I did was what I had to
Don't believe me when I tell you
("it's just what anyone would do")
Take the time to talk about it
Think a lot and live without it
Don't believe me when I tell you
("it's something unforgivable")
I'm not sure if this drama is still going on because I've heard that one time during a live show Lacey came out and sang Mike's part from There's No "I" in Team with TBS. I've also heard that Nolan has once come out and sang Seventy Times 7 with Lacey. So some people say those two are alright/friends now.
However, I'm still pretty sure that the rivalry or island drama between these two bands had extended beyond the Lacey/Nolan thing. Idk why though. But I distinctly remember those "Mics are for singing not swinging" t-shirts that Brand New had, which was an obvious reference to TBS and Adam who was notorious for swinging the mic around his neck during live shows.
Also, many fans of both bands have taken a lot of the songs on Your Favorite Weapon and Tell All Your Friends to be stabs at each others bands. And, there was also this whole thing about Jesse's other long time ex from the band Eisley who ended up marrying a guy from New Found Glory, and whose band (Eisley) eventually went on tour with TBS. That could be seen as a sort of slap on the face to Lacey.
Okay that's all I know.
