So, why do some Americans hate America?

There are plenty of reasons, let me name a few:
1. Education System
2. Government
3. Discrimination, racism, etc. against minorities

People often time ridicule the education system in America, saying how it's discriminatory or something of that sort. Often times people complain about the lack of funds that a school receives. Well, you know what? In Afghanistan under the Taliban rule, girls do not have the right to go to school! If a girl went to an underground school to learn, she will be brought to her knees in a soccer field where a machine gunman will shoot her down(Reference). Now in the United States, school comes FREE for everyone(minus the tax dollars). Can we really ridicule education in America with any reasonable explanations?

Of course it's always the minorities complaining. If you think about it, a white person can go to their country and they will be ridiculed just as much, if not more, than the minority in the United States. People don't realize this, so there shouldn't be any complaints about racism or anything of that sort. Whose the majority? Who should rule?

Personally, I don't hate America at all. I have learned to appreciate it because I really would not prefer to be anywhere else in the world. This is my home and I will protect it. Granted that there is a lot of corruption here, but there is corruption everywhere.

If you go to another country for a week or so to visit or explore or whatever the reasons, you'll miss your home in America. Why? I don't know, but you appreciate it more because there really is no place like home.

Thoughts rights actually covered something on this?
Everyone has equal rights or something?

Or maybe US has no such thing in their books.

Everyone has equal rights, but who has the right to make those rights? The majority votes, thus the majority rules, no?

That pretty much destroys the whole concept of having equal rights.

I believe that was the rather obvious implication he/she made...

If it's help for an essay topic, this belongs in the pre-college section then.

Oh hey, I had the topic for a project. I posted a thread similar to this and received some insight that was pretty in-depth & logical. Here's the link: http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=118203. I hope it helps~

Well, I didn't really want this to be moved to this area, since the essay was over with. I meant to just say that it's a debatable topic. My defense towards the misconception of this being a rant was incorrectly answered.

Anyway, thanks for the link above. Seems like many people say that they do like America. However, my research suggest otherwise. From the data I have collected, more people hate America compared to those that actually appreciate it(ie vast group of minorities, hippies, white activists).

Everyone "hates" America because they mostly hear the bad stories that come out from here and generalize everyone to be like that. I don't blame them because Americans do the same to other countries. It's also because of the actions of our government that makes it look like we're bullies.

i just think that people hate america because they are rude, and they think they are better than everyone.

im not saying that this is applied to all americans, btw. but i shall generalize by saying that when tourists visit other countries, they tend to ignore the customs, and culture. they cringe from people eating turtles or tarantulas, or... "dogs". they come from a culturally imperialistic world, therefore, they think that their culture is right. they dont appreciate asians singing, or asians dancing, because asians are reserved to professional jobs such as doctors, lawyers, biological engineer, etc. but, from their (our) society, it is sufficient to say that they are just the victims of global media brainwashing. to them, iPods are the best (or the only media player worth having...). they dont think of the codwon, or the clix 2, because they have probably... never even heard of it. because they live in a box. they dont appreciate different things. they merely use it for entertainment. just like how they dont really see the beauty of martial arts, the tea ceremony, etc. because tea is tea and martial arts is jackie chan (or jet li, depending on who you ask. ).

whatever, i rant.
