cool then..i'll be happy with that as right now my upper front body is flat and my arms are like sticks coming out of shirt sleeves; and the guy in the pic above looks better than what I have as far as i'm concerned at the moment.
Will it be ok if I keep you updated here on my progress on starr's starting strength program? (not daily, but maybe weekly or bi-weekly) and perhaps get some feedback from you? If so, cool; if not- i understand. after all, you're putting in your free time here, and I do appreciate it.

Hey man, it's not a problem at all. Feel free to do that. I will try to help as much as I can.
Just make sure you train and eat.

i was actually repping 225 last year, but i was taking noxplode and creatine back then, and i went down after i stopped, lol, so i'm trying to get back there without that stuff
but honestly, its pretty hard b/c im not eating enough. i try to eat 5 meals a day but that calories don't come out to what i need (3000-3200) even with a couple of protein shakes, because i try to eat lean stuff.

do you recommend that i just start bulking and cutting like a lot of people do? i'm a very hard gainer... it took me about 3 years to gain 40 lbs to what i'm at now but since hitting this plateau i don't see any alternative other than gaining a few pounds first before increasing my strength

btw, i am doing strength training atm, 4-6 reps on most exercises, maybe its time to switch that up now too?
thanks for the help

You would gain muscle quicker if you did the bulk/cut cycles. Clean bulking(eating only 200-400 over maintenance) is the term when you stay lean year round and build lean mass with the least amount of fat gains. It also takes longer. Its all personal preference.

I already explained about changing up your routine, not sure if you saw it or not or you just want a response by the other guy. Even changing up your rep range will shock your muscles. Its always good to change up everything once in a while.

ok, before this thread gets littered with guys pics, how would lee hom's body type be classified?

(taken from another soompi thread)

and you don't have to respond to this part since it's kinda personal, but to jackalpupz and makaveli, do you have a pic of the body type that you guys are trying to achieve/looks good on a guy? Just curious. i know everyone has different ideas and goals as to what they want or what looks subjectively 'good' to them

'skinny lean guy' just sounds a bit scoffing hehe...even if it's meant literally and matter-of-factly. so just wanted to see basically what isn't skinny? thx!

The same, skinny lean guy smile.gif. Not saying he looks like crap. Just saying, it doesn't take much to look like that. A little bit of weight training and a good diet, thats all. If thats what you want to achieve, go for it!

Lee hom would be classified just like the other guy you posted. I'm personally tryin to achieve something along
the lines of this .
I really don't care what other people think looks "good". It's my body and i'll shape it how I want it to look.

I train my abs like I train every other muscle group. 8-12 reps.
I typically try to hit 12 then add more weight.

A healthy way would be to give yourself about 2 months to lose 10lbs. if your weight isnt fluctuating and is consistent, just eat 300-500 less calories than you do right now each day. With that, you would lose about a lb a week. It takes roughly 3500 calories to lose 1lb so if you were to eat 500 calories less per day, that would be about 1 lb a week you lose. OR, you can just eat what you normally do, and do cardio 3-5 times a week to get your calorie intake at a deficit.

This also answers your question :jennamei: smile.gif Just may take a little longer if your trying to lose 20lbs.

thx: ) this will help

ok this might already been asked but after searching different sites I've been getting different answers.

How long should I run/jog on the treadmill to optimise my workout and fat burning, times I have found range between 12 minutes to 45 minutes?

45min to 1 hour. Optimizing fat burning depends on heart rate not length of time. Typically if you're going
to do a cardio workout, I don't see why you'd only do 12 mins if you're aiming strictly for fat loss. 45mins
to 1 hour will get you a good caloric deficit provided you stay in the target heart rate.

i've read treadmill is bad for you, but why is it bad?
I also read the leaning forward on the bike will give you thicker thighs, but if u're upright, u won't? is there any other thigns like this in the gym that will bulk your thighs/calves etc depending on posture? out of elliptical/X trainer, treadmill, bike, which wud u recommend and how long shoul du stay on one? around what target HR and RPM?
also, what exercises are there for the inner thighs and thinning the calves? esp getting rid of the round bulky bit? and what to avoid from getting the round calve bit?

thx >_<!!
believe.

Hey the treadmill isn't "bad" for you. It's just hard on the joints just like running. That bike thing is a myth as far as I know.
It's the first time i've actually heard that. You can't specifically thin the thighs. You have to burn the fat off using cardio.

Depends on intensity. Rest times etc all play a big factor. Also if you're trying to bodybuild, then it's not the way to go.
If you're just trying to stay fit, there is nothing wrong with it. It will serve your purpose.

so you think ppl cant get ripped and jacked with just body weight training?

what do you think of this?

Video is down but ive seen it and know what your talking about. Genetics play a huge roll in how big you can get doing body weight exercises like that. Most of those guys just have 7%-10% bodyfat but are not "jacked". I saw one big dude and I almost guarantee he is lifting something, weather its weights, trash cans or people.

It depends on the person, if you're originally obese, then you can get big off bodyweight exercises. You think a guy who is like 6'1 130lbs can get jacked off body weight exercises? Dream on. Body weight exercises can only get you so big, then they're strictly for maintenance purposes. To not lose anything if you can't get in the gym. Why do you think every pro bodybuilder lifts weight? It's not because it looks cool. I have seen that video many times before, you think those guys got jacked just off doing body weight exercises? The guy in the video even says most of them have been in prison before. Prison has a gym and weights lol and he also said they just lift whatever they can, trash cans etc so it's still not bodyweight. I'm not saying bodyweight exercises are useless but they're good for beginners and maintenance.
