I can improve my breakfast biggrin.gif, I'm not really looking to gain muscle mass yet but right now im trying to lose the abdominal fat that's covering my abs I don't really have a time limit to get this but If I do HIIT for 27 minutes will I still get some results? I do it 3 days a week since I go in the morning on Saturdays, Sundays and Fridays. My gym class also makes us run and do some strength exercises like push ups, sit ups and etc. Also every night I do work on my abs like crunches, leg lifts, reverse crunches, toe touches bicycle crunches 20 reps each, plank ( 1 - 2 ) min, squats(20), push ups (I can only do 20 with proper form : P) and do 20 burpees.
I also do 3 other abdominal exercises which I don't know the name for but 2 of them work my oblique muscles. This generally takes 15-20 minutes.

I'm okay in other areas of my body but my abdominal is really stubborn.

Once again ~ workout harder ~ I could do 60 pushups at 12, as could every guy and most girls in my PE class. I wanted to make sure you understood I never asked if you were looking to gain muscle mass - You want Hawt ABZ. Workout harder lose bodyfat anyone can have abs its all about body-fat reduction. Primarily for you more cardio since you don't have much control over your life and your parents determine your eating habits.

So workout harder. From your info - you don't workout hard at all. Not even for a Jr high school non-athlete.

Consistency is the key. You need to try and pace yourself first.
Aside from that suck it up and deal with the pain. The first couple times are always
like this when you're out of shape. If you stay consistent it can only get better
unless you have some medical conditions.

ok, I'll suck it up!!

another question I forgot to ask, after running my whole body itches. Is this normal?

I'm sorry!
Anyways I've been doing my exercises and I just did as many reps as I can until I got tired. I'm amazed at how many I can actually do compared to the normal 20-20
I'm going to try to do my cardio but instead of walking for recovery i'll jog along the way, I realized I wasn't brisk walking but instead I was actually just flying around randomly, I'll do as many sets as I can until I get tired.
Thanks for all your help!

I recently got one of those benches from Walmart for doing bench presses and it also includes other stuff at the end of the bench for leg extensions and bicep curls. I didn't notice until AFTER I built the bench it said max weight capacity was 250 lbs. And I assume this includes the max combine weight of myself and the weights I use. It seems awfully low for what I intend to do since I'm already 160 pounds on my own.

What weight capacity do you recommend? And any ideas where I can have a better selection of benches? It was the most expensive available at my Walmart. I live in Canada btw.

Probably Fitness Depot, you can also try Muscle mag and any other sport equipment stores.

Thanks, but someone told me that the weight capacity actually refers to the amount of weight the bar can hold and not the entire bench. Can someone confirm this please?

Depends on where it says it. I would be scared to put 225 on a wal-mart bar.
If it says it on the box that held your benchpress then it's what the bench can hold.
It if said it on the sticker/wrapper on the barbell then it's the barbell.
One of my friends used to have one of those wal-mart benches and a bar from there.
That was in like 9th grade when I was like 14 lol.
I remember putting like 150 on the bar and it bent after a few uses so i donno.
Use at your own discretion.

Um.. which part is the barbell? Do you mean the piece connected between the two handle bars? Because thats where I found the sticker.

And yeaah I'll be cautious I don't tihnk I've ever hit anywhere near 200 yet so I think it'll be suitable for me thanks.

You have no concept of hard work ~ Work harder. Kids normally get 1-2 hours of playtime a day on the weekdays and inbetween that run around gleefully so we dont add in the other times. You only avg 2 x 45 min a week total. You won't see any results from "exercising a little" ~

Learn that you have to earn the body you desire. Your health is no cheap frivolous thing.

i make sure i have breakfast, and all of my meals are vegetable based because that makes you fuller and has more nutrition. ive cut back on bread/pastry and havent eaten dairy (because i just dont like the taste at all so easy to cut out!)

ive been walking/jogging (im extremely unfit) atleast once a day for 30mins, sometimes twice a day.

ive also been making sure to drink heaps of water! i'm around 68/69kgs now.. ive just got to push myself more to get down to 60. it feels great that my jeans that didnt do up at all anymore, do up easy again happy.gif

Hey,

Great thread and thanks for sharing advice!

#1 Age and GENDER: 21 and MALE
#2 You height and current weight: 5"8ish and 132 pounds
#3 What is your experience? Sports? Cheerleading? Ever been trained?: varsity track/x-country (high school)
#4 Eating habits in the last week?: Poor, spontaneous eating of large amounts, usually skips breakfast
#5 Your current exercise habits: random pushups and situps. will go to gym with proper equipment once i obtain driver's license in 1 week
#6 YOUR GOAL:

To gain weight preferably in muscle mass. I'm actually very fit. I recently completed a half marathon in a time of 1 hours and 30 minutes. However I am quitting my cardio focused routines in order to gain weight and muscle. My body is actually very lean with no fat however I look very skinny because I have a thin bone structure, especially at places like my wrists. I have my six pack and when I go to the beach my friends are impressed by my well defined physique, but I just look lanky with clothes on.

The thing is I have no experience committing to a serious weight training program for the goal of weight/muscle gain. I used to do repetition intensive weight training during high school for my running but that was just for the off seasons.

Anyways I was wondering if you could maybe outline a very basic startup routine for someone like me. You're probably busy but it would be really helpful if you could at least outline some workouts that I could look up in detail via google/youtube.

Also, what kind of diet goals should I outline. I've been trying to increase the number of meals per day in smaller amounts and my habits are improving. I am also currently thinking of buying whey protein or general mass gainers like muscle juice but I'm not sure what is the most effective and safe. If you could maybe talk a bit about these nutritional supplements it would be really great. Generally speaking I don't have the luxury of taking care of my diet because I am a student so these supplements are very convenient for me.

Thanks in advance!
