Need serious help . :[

Okay , about a month or 2 ago , I was like 110 . I'm 5'3 btw .
I used to exercise 3 hours a day , and eat like .. once a day . Bad , yeah I know . But we never have anything to eat .

Anyway . Aug. 31 , I decided to exercise everyday this month and drink lots of water , cause my birthday is next month and I wanna look good cause its my 16th . Soo . Everyday I would exercise like 1 hour and 30 minutes , and drink 10 bottles of water . I would eat anything there was to eat , so maybe like a piece of bread .. or a boiled egg . My mum always cooks dinner , so that's usually when I have a real meal . Mkay .

So Aug 31 . - 120

See here . The thing is , I should be either the same weight I started with , or lighter . But instead yesterday I gained like 5 pounds .

Sept 3 . - 125

I weigh again this morning .

Sept 4 . - 130 .

I'm pretty sure something is going wrong , cause this has never happened before .
I kinda feel like going back to eating tons and not exercising cause I feel like I'm just gaining more .

Q :

Why am I gaining weight instead of losing ?

I thought it might be cause I wasn't eating enough , but I don't think that's it .

Do you eat breakfast? If you don't that could also be why, because anything you eat after you don't eat breakfast will get stored as fat. Maybe you're gaining muscle too, that weighs more than fat. also, if you're a girl maybe your time of the month is coming soon, usually you get heavier around then.

What do evidence do you have to substantiate your claim?

Energy is stored as fat throughout the day, not just after a lack of breakfast. I'm curious as to what, "..because anything you eat after you don't eat breakfast.." really means. Are you specifying a particular time?

Now I'm going to comment on your point that muscle weighs heavier than fat. Muscle is approximately 18% more dense than fat, meaning given a certain volume of both muscle and fat, the muscle would weigh more.

However, the difference in weight is negligible since there is around about a 106gram difference with 1L of fat vs 1L of muscle.

Just seems apparent to me that alot of the posts in this thread are written by those without any real knowledge of the field.

Any tips on somebody doing like bench press for teh first time? i want to build my chest since its flat and thats very bad for a guy to have. I weigh like 130, i guess i'll have to test what my max is first? there is a gym near by tht i can walk but im not a person that works out besides the basic pull ups and pushups and sit ups at home. so i want some confidence to work out at the same time as the other ppl in the gym. i usually will want to workout if nobody is there i don't know why, but i live real close to it and need to take advantage of this. I hope someone can help.

to the point: Working on my chest, (i can provide a pic if needed), i don't how to start like what should i do and how much reps and stuff? i need to start working out since i just turned 20 yesterday and havent done working out in a gym bfor. thanks. im usually too shy to go to a gym so yeah.

hey.
Just got a random Questions.
Is it harder for tall people to get results faster?(compared to shorter/avg sized people)
Because im 6'4 and my friend is around 5'11 and i would say he got results much faster.
Maybe it's what im eating but still...

And if it's what im eating do you guys have any book or site recomendations that could help me eat proper food?

Thanks in advance really appreciate it.

And im planing to read all the 165 pages o_o. im curious how many people asked the same questions :].

P.S In My work out i mostly just work out my chest and back with a little of shoulders ,bicep and triceps.
And im 16 idk if that makes a diffrence my friend is 18.
P.P.S any work out guide sites/books much appreciated as well.

I need heeelp : (
You said girls need to eat in order to gain muscle, so I was wondering, what if I only want to gain muscle on one area, like I used to do track and field, so I have enough muscles on my calves and I don't want anything there, however I have a layer of fat on my thigh which I do want to get rid of, what should I do for that?

I also want abs, like... not monstrous abs, just maybe two-pack type of thing. But I don't have any fat on my stomach area (I'm really skinny....), does that mean I need to eat so I gain fat there, then turn the fat into muscles?

I'm following an 8minutes ab workout from youtube, I think its pretty popular on soompi as well, will that help or am I doing it completely wrong? D:

What type of track did you compete in: distance or speed? Your big calves makes me think you're a sprinter, but then you say you have low bf but still can't see your abs which sounds like a distance runner (elite marathon runners have bf as low as 3% but their abs still look like ****).

I would recommend you start a strength training program, focusing primarily on hamstrings, gluteals and low back. This will create a much improved balance aesthetically speaking in relation to your calves. And if deadlifts and front squats are a regular staple of your training your core will develop. I don't know what 8min ab workout is but I love abdominal cable crunches and decline leg raises.
"But when it ends and while it ends, something comes, after so much rage, persistence, obstinacy, extravagance; something entirely unexpected and touching in its mildness and goodness. With the motif passed through many vicissitudes, which takes leave and so doing becomes itself entirely leave-taking, a parting wave and call, with this D G G occurs a slight change, it experiences a small melodic expansion. After an introductory C, it puts a C sharp before the D. . .and this added C Sharp is the most moving, consolatory, pathetically reconciling thing in the world. It is like having one's hair or cheek stroked, lovingly, understandingly, like a deep and silent farewell look. . . . " (Mann: 55).

Hi, I'm not sure where to ask this so hopefully this is the right place~

Every time I go exercise my face turns beet red and even my arms turn really red. My friend says that it might be that I'm not breathing enough, but I naturally turn red really easily. I not sure if it's just that i need to breathe a lot more (i usually only breathe through my nose, so i never breathe through my mouth) or that there might be something else. Any advice on how to stop the redness or any advice on better breathing techniques? Any help would be great! Thanks!!
Please grant my wishes!❤

consult a doctor about this ... do not ask people from this forum because most don't know what they are talking about...like the one saying that anything eaten after breakfast is stored as fat... wtf..?

It's ok if you're shy at first (I was too) but as you go more you'll understand that nobody there looks down at anybody else - ESPECIALLY somebody who is just trying to start out. If anything, they respect you for it - everybody had to start somewhere.

As for the bench press, take a look at the form suggestions: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ...The_Bench_Press. For starters, make sure you warm up before you do your work sets. Three warm up sets and three work sets are pretty standard. For example, if you're going to do 3x5x135 (sets x reps per set x weight per rep) you're looking at 1x5x45, 1x5x75, 1x5x105 or something similar. I'd suggest you try an entire strength training program though. Your body is meant to work as a whole and bad things happen if you try to isolate parts of it.

I was just wondering, if you lose weight, will your boobs shrink as well? Is there any sort of work out where you can make those stay while keeping the pounds off?

Dude, I never knew this thread could be so helpful! So I read quite a few posts, but I was hoping to get a little more specific advice for myself!

I'm short and a little stocky, but I'm pretty happy with myself. The only thing is, I wish I could rid of my stomach fat!!! it's not huge, but it's certainly there and it's annoying. I know everyone says do cardio AND abs, but are there any specific exercises or combinations of exercises i can do? i have lower ab fat and major love handles I want to get rid of.

I also did cross country, track, and soccer so my calves (and thighs) are HUGE so i dont want to work any of that area....my main focus is to get a toned stomach. any suggestions?

its not just cardio and abs exercise.. it's eating right and by doing cardio, ab exercises come last.. u can technically get a 4-6 pack just by eating right and cardio eliminating the fat on top of the abs.... refer to the links i posted on pg.138..... its all u need...do the research.

ahh i really really need help with this
i had a plan which was written on here earlier but i have to change it all together now
i have a really busy schedule ... and i was wondering what would be a good work out
for my time schedule

Wake up 6am
6:30am-eat Breakfeast which is usually rice and something
7:00am- leave to drop of cousins at school
8:00am-arrive to school (class starts tuesday and thursdays)
11:30am- class ends
12 to 4 pm - stay at school until kids need to be picked up at school

and after that i usually study or have to do chores or something
so i really need to fix my eating schedule again
i came back from korea recently and so my whole diet and eating schedule got screwed up
along with my work outs

lately i go on brisk walks for like 40 mins or play basketball
or just like play at the park
but i dont have a set workout plan which i really want

on school mondays and wed.. i start class at 11:30 and ends at 4
which give me no time to eat and im not hungry until then which means when i get home
i eat like crazy

i cant go to the gym bc im so tired since i dont sleep til 2 studying
so waking up earlier is really tough...

before my schedule was drinking alot of water
30 min jogs in the morning
then at night workout at the gym for 30 mins
i lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks

im wanting to lose 15lb by winter so dec?
im currently 168 cm and 135 lbs

so could someone maybe help what would be a good plan for eating
and working out T___T;
it would be greatly appreciated

instead of brisk walks .. try jogging for 40minutes?? basketball is fine but u must exert youself no cherry picking... and might i recommend you eat healthier if you're not already.. refer to the links i posted up on the last page.... itll help.. and during the day.. "power/speed" walk instead of just walking leisurely..

Hi I read your fitness thread and was really excited to find an expert on soompi because I'm actually having a couple of problems. I've been working out for about 6 months now and am wanting to become buff/ripped to a noticable degree. I'm increasing reps and also weights, but I don't seem to be doing it effectively as the results are not evident.. sad.gif

I weigh about 64 kg height 177cm, but want to gain more muscle mass. I'm aiming for an ideal body shape like brad pitt's from fight club: http://fvd.aas.duke.edu/screensociety/imag..._FightClub1.jpg

This is the exercise I currently do

Day 1: [ Dumbell Presses 20kg (per arm) 15 reps, Dumbell Flys 20kg 15 reps

Concentration Curls 12kg (per arm) 25-30 reps, 50 - 70 push up, 30 pull ups ] x 3-4 sets

Day 2: Rest

Day 3: [Shoulder Presses 12kg (per arm) 15-20 reps, Laterial Rases 12kg 15-20 reps, Reverse flies 12 kgs 15-20 reps, up rows 12kg 15 reps. Hammer curls 12 kgs 15 reps, Concentration curls 12kgs 15 reps. ] x 3 sets

Day 4: Rest

Day 5: [Overhead tricep extention 10kg, 15-30 reps, Tricep kickbacks 10kgs, 30 squats] x 3 sets

My diet is pretty normal; 4 eggs, cereal fruit for breakfast, 3 sandwitches with meat for lunch, chicken or tuna for dinner. etc etc.

please please PLEASE !!

Help me get my ideal body!!! you'll be a life saivor

it's not a bad idea to do push ups.. but it can only get you soo far... if you're a small fellow it will only get u ripped up to a certain point , but if u want to build a massive chest u must use weights.. and move up in lbs...

soo you want a ripped body...personally i prefer Chritian bales from American Psycho haha well anyways..

it seems like your exercises are in order(besides having no carido!!?!?! where's the cardio!!!??)... if you're moving up in weights/reps and u havent seen changes for a good while... 1-2 months+ and you have a strict diet(getting enough protein/nutrients THROUGH OUT THE day) then.. you should be asking yourself are u doing ur exercises right? being that are they hitting the right muscles with perfect form?....

PS.
4eggs + yolk is too much it is recommended 1a day smile.gif....1yolk...
