Hate to burst your bubble but... judging from the pictures it seems that you're pretty slim and not to offend you, a bit scrawny. Typical physique for a track runner but there are few runners out there who are pretty swole because they know what they're doing.

You gotta consider the fact that there are guys out there who bodybuilds in order to achieve the ideal physique so doing any type of excessive cardio work is a big NO-NO.

Why? Stress hormones a.k.a. cortisol... Why do excessive cardio overtime just to lose more muscle?

Also, scientific studies have proven that doing 30-60 mins of weight lifting burns more calories than excessive cardio. Google it up.

If you want to lose body fat... I'd consider re-organizing your "kitchen" a.k.a. your diet.

Well yeah I knew that if I wanted to bulk up I would need to take in a lot more protein and eat accordingly to gain that extra weight. But being a hurdler/sprinter my physique was ideal for my quickness and agility. I was 5'8 155lbs which was perfect for me. I ran times that were fast enough to be top 5 in Norcal. Of course I'm not arguing with your points as they are good ones. But just from my own personal experience from then to now, I have the same body type and currently I have so much more belly fat than before. My diet practically stayed the same from then til now too. Perhaps its due to age? All I know is that I'm running way less and lifting the same as I used to. I guess it differs from one individual to another.

Hmm... what are some resistance training that you recommend? Other than swimming because I don't really have a pool.

hey whats up buddy? i just got back from taiwan but apparently i dont have my job anymore lol. how is your ankle? i went and got a membership for the gym and pool at UCA because i dont think my knee can handle the hardcore workout. swimming would help strengthen my legs without putting too much pressure. is there a supplement of some sort to take to help build up bones/tendon? something that targets it .. something besides protein, i think its called glucocine or something like that? i hurt my right knee doing lunges a while back lol (i thinhk i told u about it already).

Hello everybody, it's been awhile.I'm sorry to inform you but, I have been so busy with my work schedule lately, coming to the forum on a frequent basis has been quite diffcult. And I noticed since my absense, there's been over 40 questions and alot of them seem to be quite similar. If you have specific questions concerning anything about health and fitness, please pm me, as I won't be able to participate frequently in this topic thread particularly. PM me and i can answer your questions specifically. Or you can send me a message on myspace (check my profile) and I will get back to you asap. smile.gif

You can not spot reduce. Fat burns off as a whole not just selected spots. First you need to eat properly. Basically; calories in<calories out.

Toning is all in relation to body fat % basically. The lower your body fat % the more "tone" you will look.
I'd recommend you get a gym membership. Basically, Cardio everyday and weight training a couple days a week.

Hi! I was wondering if someone could help me. I'm trying to lose around 10-15 pounds in a month. For the past week, I've been consuming around 1300 calories and doing pilates for one hour and jogging for around one hour. However, after this one week, I've only lost around 0.4 pounds. Also, my metabolism is that of a normal persons cause before when I ate like a pig blush.gif i didn't gain a lot of weight...Am I doing something wrong? What should I do to achieve my goal in this one month? Thanks smile.gif

what are some good exercises to work on your biceps?

i've been doing the machine bicep curls and dumbells for a month now and I think I stopped getting improvemets so what are some different exercises i can do to see more results?

and also is doing benchpresses the only way to work on your chest muscles? Because I generally use the machines that do incline press, vertical press, and regular chest press. are doing the benchpresses with the bar more efficient than working with the machines?

You'd be doing good if you lost 4 pounds a month. I believe it is recommended to lose 1-2 a week. I think they say 1 pound is equal to around 3600 calories. Remember, calories in<calories out. Are you sure you are taking in about 1300 calories? You really need to sit down and count it all out and make sure you are eating healthy as well, I'd actually recommend you consume more calories and just intensify your workouts more... You should be doing intensive cardio and weight training a couple times a week to boost your metabolism. You do not need to worry about getting "buff" like most females assume will happen. You females simply do not have enough testosterone to build like us males.

Not really... your body will adapt and you will peak. You gotta get some weights or hit the gym.

You can do basic pushups, crunches, etc... it'll work somewhat for conditioning but not much more than that.

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exercises....inMuscle=Biceps
^ That is a link for a variety of bicep exercises.

You need to "shock" your body. More weight, different routines, you have to keep changing it up. Try doing supersets. The human body will adapt to your regular routines so keep your workouts fresh and new for the most part. Alternate every week or so.

As for the chest you can do butterflys, cable crossovers, and yeah bench bench bench.

Here is a link for chest exercises as well.

Mix up your routine. "Shock" the body, intensify workouts and add weight training to the mix, eat more, make sure you are getting enough rest, etc..

That really depends. For example, Jay Cutler, a world class bodybuilder does not change up his routine at all. He keeps the same workout routine but alternates sets and reps only in the offseason/on season respectively. People's bodies react differently to different methods and different training routines. My body personally reacts better doing a macrocycle periodizaton training routine. But whether you train with the same routine or mix it up every month or so, one thing in common is that you must follow the FITT prinicple training method. FITT basically means frequency, intensity, time and type. Please check google for specific definitions as there are alot of different ways to explain this. :)As long as you follow the this main training principle (and there are many) Whether you stay on a same program or switch up, keeping this priniciple in mind will help you whether you stick to the same schedule or change up routines every now and then.Hope this helped.PS: To everyone else, I will try to answer more questions on a frequent basis but not answering everyone's will be difficult. I'm sorry for this inconvenience. Again, please pm me as i'll be able to give you my email address so you I can address your questions much quicker. Thank you.

HI HOW DO I BREAK A PLATEAU
Change up your intensity. If your doing the same thing over and over again, your body is not being challenged, therefore it will not grow. You should always be training at a much high level and intensity then you did the week before during your periodization cycles.

Are you lifting heavy all the time? If so then this could be causing your plateau as well.

as a trainer what do you think about swimming? I personally started swimming again this summer. I swim for about 1-2hours with little pauses, but i do it at a pretty decent pace.

that doesn't really get you ripped but what do you think about doing that?
I also ride bikes, and do a lot of spinning on the resistance bikes and average a mile every 3minutes, sometimes i ride for about an hour and get about 20 miles in.

I was wondering though, how can you get a wider look? because i look pretty leaned out when i have clothes on, maybe cus i'm tall.

this doesn't really have to do anything with losing weight..
but i haven't grown since 4th grade,
and i'm 5 feet, 107lbs and i'm 15yrs old,
and everyone keeps telling me i'm going to grow, but seriously, i haven't grown a centimeter since i was 10
in fact, i think i'm getting shorter.
my whole family is tall on both sides and have been tall generation after generation.
so i think something is the matter with me.
can you help me?

btw, thanks for this thread.

Question, Mister Fitness Trainer laugh.gif

Does stretching or doing yoga lose any weight?

&& eating wheat products is .. bad right? >>;
since all the carbs turn into sugar if you don't work them off.
