If you thinking about working at the U.N you wouls have to major in the language that you wanna translate. So you would need to major in korean.

yeah but if u wanna work in UN as a translator u need YEARS of experience and gotta come from some fancy pancy ivy league school XD
or connections

if u want to be a translator for like a business i suggest you stick with your communication major and minor in korea...if u can major in korean u could do that too...i also suggest taking korean language tests

truthfully i think for entry level translators all you need is to prove your fluency and then you kinda work yourself up through experience

where would you want to be a translator?

if you want to work for any department of government (provided you're talking about the united states) you should probably major in something like international relations and become natively fluent in both english and korean including reading/writing and maybe any overseas experience.

I don't think that there is a major to be a translator. Anyone who is fluent in two languages can be a translator. If you want tips on how to translate things, of course take the language course (make sure you know how to write, read and speak it) and also be aware of your surroundings. It also depends on what you want to translate... books... helping people... etc. You could still major in Communication, English, Journalism, Sociology and etc... as long as it has something pertaining to you helping others.
