Most people seem to have relatively positive views and feedback about newegg.com. As much as I love to build computers, I'v only ordered from them 3 times (most recently being 3 days ago). All 3 times I've ordered 2 sets of memory modules (4 sticks) and each time it was a different brand (patriot, gskill, and corsair). With my luck, I received a bad/defective pair ALL 3 times. What are the odds of that??? I've bought memory from retailers and other websites countless amounts of times and I've never had defective ones. It's just so frustrating that all 3 times were from newegg (especially considering it's the only 3 times I ordered from them). All I know is I am NEVER going to order memory from Newegg again. Normally I don't rant but this is annoying the crap out of me right now. I was so looking forward to the upgrade today. sad.gif

^alot of ppl write in the newegg reviews say that they get a bad stick of ram, so they just RMA and the new ones r good.. i guess they resell the stuff they find that r broken.. O.o

i bought from them once.. pretty nice xcept u HAVE to pay for 3 days shipping minimum which is $15 for a computer case sleep.gif;;

newegg's return policy is quite fair... request an online RMA and they'll take it back and send you a replacement.

yea you're gonna lose out on some money on shipping but if you wanted to, you could try and complain with the CSR and see if they'll reimburse you.

Fortunately I got them to send me a return label for the last 2 orders. After the 1st incident, I wouldn't expect any less.

I ordered 3 times from them also. Different stuff and never had a problem so far.

The only problem I have is UPS dropping the stuff off in front of my door even when nobody is home, so someone else can steal it. I wish I could choose FedEx instead.

Newegg isnt quite what it use to be, they are so big now so they could care less.

Mwave.com has always been super great.. 10x better then newegg and they ship out as late as 4:30pm PST. Only con is there selection.

im a loyal newegg customer considering their great deals, and fast shipping. i bought ram three seperate times, and never had a problem. it must be very frustrating to order something online, and then have the product(s) be DOA. i read that their customer service is top notch from countless product reviews, so i'm pretty sure you'll be able to RMA.

good luck on the next arrivals.

I've bought some memory from newegg before and got mixed bag results. The OEM ones suck big time. Never had a problem with the retail ones. I like buying from newegg because you can always RMA it if it doesn't work.

I'm personally not too thrilled about how long their rma takes. Almost all online vendors will provide an RMA for DOA so I don't consider that to be something exclusive to Newegg. It takes them at least 3-4 days AFTER they receive the defective unit to send out the replacement. Not to mention the 3 day ground return label they sent me took 5 business days for it to be delievered back to them. Regardless, for an order which I originally chose to have Fedex 1 day delieverd + express processing, it is a rather disappointing experience (yet again). With my recent order, I just decided to purchase the item again and requested for a refund with the rma. I was not about to wait another 10-15 business days to get the rma fullfilled.

I've only gotten something at Newegg.com once, and it was my Lenovo laptop August 2006. I actually had no problems at all with it, but I'm definitely going to be more cautious from now on

Sorry to hear that. I could relate on the RMA coz it does take a while. Other online retailers I go to are Zipzoomfly and tigerdirect. My favorite was monarchcomputers, it's a shame they went out of business. Just wondering, but where did you end up getting your memory upgrade from?

I've ordered from them atleast 4 times already (all different stuff) and I've yet to have a problem. Like someone already posted though, they send via UPS and they leave it on my front door even when nobody is home dry.gif

i bought ram three times from newegg (corsair / mushkin / ocz). all three times worked like a charm. i only go to newegg for individual computer parts, premade stuff always seem to be overpriced (ie laptop, monitors, camera, mp3 players, etc).

so far, ive spent over 2k at newegg (computer parts) and no prob. so yea im a loyal fan of newegg.

good luck to you, worst thing u can have are defective slots on your mobo (which imo can be ur case >_<). ouch.

I've built many a computer by parts from newegg, and I don't think I've ever gotten any dead RAM *crosses fingers*. Mostly Corsair, with like one OCZ set and a set from G.Skill most recently. Never really did big stress tests but the owners haven't complained about any BSOD's or lockups and the oldest computer I've built out there is going on 2 or 3 years old, so... RAM appears to be good to go.
I am the minority here.

Hrmm,
I've gotten a bad psu from them before, that ended up frying my MB and a stick of memory, but they were good about it. I RMA'd everything. I guess you just ran into a streak of bad luck. I like newegg, but i don't like the fact that their shipping prices are pretty high. You think you're getting 100 bucks worth of stuff until you checkout and realize you need to spend another 20-30 bucks for s+h....

Well their shipping is kinda accurate. Have you tried shipping a box of junk via UPS/Fedex lately? eBay shipping is outrageous.. newegg.. is 'average' though not free..

i get what you're saying...
UPS and Fedex are pretty outrageous. But i find that there are plenty of sites that offer shipping prices much cheaper than newegg. The service isn't as great, really, but i get the stuff on time and it ends up being cheaper than newegg with the shipping costs.

newegg is the best, for the last 3-4 yrs i bought everything from there, spent a overall total of $2000. yep, sorry to hear about your bad mem stick though, in terms of memory stick i think mem sticks have the greatest chance overall for DOA. =/ hope things work out for you, but newegg has great shipping and great deals. i like the deals w/ free shipping, b/c to me those deals are a steal didn't even have to waste gas and drive to frys and the items on newegg are even cheaper!!!

what can i say... newegg rocks!

I've had very good experiences with Newegg. I bought a 19" monitor from them as well as some other computer items. Pretty darn good site.
