i went to the my hair stylist today and asked for yunho's haircuit and she said that i need to treat and thin my hair before i can get it like his, because mine is untreated and still thick...

she said that it might be painful.. and i heard that highlights or color treating your hair are bad for your eyes ??!!

anyone knows if this is true?

Nah, don`t worry that`s not true,
Because if it was I`d be blind as of now,
especially since I`m always coloring my hair.

hey guys i'm looking for some hair help as well... I'm going for these looks here:

mainly the hair in the 1st pic since where I work they don't like it if guys have kind of long hair haha. Anyways, kinda asian mullet-like, very simple looking. I'm trying to avoid using any sort of hair wax/products, and going for a simple, natural look like these pics. I really have trouble with my sides, it's hard for them to be flat. Anyways what I was really wondering was if these haircuts can be achieved without wax or products, and naturally as I stated. Also advice on how to and what to tell the barber to do would be appreciated. Thanks.

You should read my post on the earlier page.
I think it`ll help :]

ST STYLE, thanks for the info there, but I need some advice as to what kind of hair salon to go to. If I go to an asian salon, they're use to cutting asian hair, but a good majority of them speak VERY LITTLE english/engrish so if I explain to them what I want, they might misunderstand me or get really confused... If I go to like an american hair salon it'll be MUCH easier for them to understand what I want, but at the same time they may have very little experience cutting that type of hair... so what should i do? =(

yea but i don't think just showing the picture is enough (i brought one before to an asian salon, wasn't pleased with my haircut). I need to thoroughly explain to them what and how I want my hair done. A picture alone wont be good enough, but it does help...

I get embarassed if I show a picture of a model for my haircut... especially since there's this really hot girl working there too. I printed like 4 different pictures and went to the asian stylist, but when I saw her, I just couldn't show it lol. I just printed it for nothing.

wellz u shouldn't be embarrassed, lots of ppl do it

for asian hairstyles... u gotta have LONG hair, and i'll tell u, it's annoying. everyday things, eating, sleeping, showering, hairstyling, whatever is all much longer and complicated with asian hairstyle

but if u really wants, grow out long hair.... not like a month or 2, but for like 6 months cuz ur hair grows about an inch a month at best and if u look at pics, like relaly look at them, the hair in the back is like at least 4 inches or so, and sideburns are just hella long. u cna get haircuts in between but then it'll take u just that much longer (which i suggest cuz u'll look emo and not asian). then the cut, just go to someone who knows what they're doing, get a picture or whatever u want it to look like and ask for a lot of thinning cuz long hair doesn't want to stand up

for wax... there a bunch but i suggest gatsby which u can ebay, find a relative that lives in japan, or go to little tokoyo in downtown whereever and go to a japanese super market, yes u heard me right. the one in la is called marukai's or something like that

for ppl that don't wanna wax... i wanted that too but it's a cold hard truth that styled hair looks better than unstyled. i.e. if u spike ur hair, go for a day without spiking it and that's basically the difference... huge. just slap on some hair products after ur morning shower or something. wake up 30 minutes earlier.

for applying hair stuffs.... just do it. what else is there? u can have as many tips and tricks as you want but unless u actually try it and see what works for YOUR hair u'll never get it down. plus don't be discouraged, i tried a couple times and always messed it up, but i just took a mental note of what i could do to improve next time. don't forget hairspray cuz that helps a lot

for ppl who cut their own hair... fine, it's all good. i know a friend who's got fobby hair and cuts his own hair, does sometimes like roll it up in one finger and slightly goes through it with box cutters instead of using thinning scissors but it turns out awesome

Hahhaha, engrish....
But anyways I suggest you go to a japanese hair salon.
They`ll usually have hair catalogues in their salon so you can point out what you want.
Or since you have your picture you can just show them that.
They know what they`re doing.
So it wouldn`t matter if they could speak english fluently or not.
Juts make sure you never go to a Chinese salon though,
they WILL butcher your hair, and no I`m not racist I`m part Chinese but it`s true.
Every single person I know that has gotten their hair cut by a Chinese person
has gotten it cut at least three inches shorter than they actually wanted it.

If you were to live in Hawaii I`d be able to tell you exactly where to go,
but you don`t so I`m not that much help. Sorry.

Uhh... My hair is cut by HK salonists/hairstylists and im always happy with their cuts of how they thin and layer. Usually the styles they cut is very close to Japanese styles. Maybe in Hawaii its crap there but here in Canada its fine, since theres a huge population of Chinese people in Toronto.

talking about places and who cuts your hair...I get my hair cut at Fantastic Sams and they do a pretty good job doing the hair cut I want =S plus the lady I request she's kind of punk rockish (she's not Asian either) so she knows what shes doing =S I tried it once at Regis because my niece wanted hers cut too...the lady chopped off like half the length of my hair (waste of 25 bucks) =( took me a good 5 months to grow it back...

in the end...if you can find a place that's cheap enough AND does the cut you want...stick with it...

ok I think my hair is getting way too thick again because it's not clumping? or staying up?

here's some pictures. ehh the hair doesn't look good at all. I used Gatsby Moving Rubber Purple "Wild Shake" for this. I also have the black and pink Gatsby ones, I'll use the pink tomorrow and see how it is.

I need help, should I just use more product in my hair (like in the back)?

I was looking at the youtube videos (search asian mullet its the #1 or 2 video i think) for the "wild shake" and kinda tried imitating what the person did, but it didn't turn out that way.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=-ufEHkvUB4M

so what should i do? go get my hair thinned out again and just tell them to leave everything else? (I gotta grow the sideburns out)

^ If you are going for the 'shake' thing that you linked, I think that you need to grow your bangs out. Especially on the (your) left side, because since they are side swept, you need them longer so you get the nice curve in there :]
still pulling on doors when pushing is required.

yeah, you can get it thinned, and leave the length the same.

as for the video, yeep, you need to grow it out..
don't use too much wax, (it looks like it), because it can 'cause unnecessary clumping.

edit:
actually, it looks like you don't need to get it thinned, just grow it out..

Hmm....well no I`m not saying that.
Maybe it might be a good thing to go to an American salon,
because it`s easier and stuff. but then again they might make your hair not the way you wanted it to be.
I actually have a couple friends in Las Vegas, and they have pretty asian haircuts.
I`ll ask them for you, I`ll get back to you on that when they answer. (^▽^)

lol, well yea...it`s probably just my location. (;・。・)
Which is why I added;
"If you were to live in Hawaii I`d be able to tell you exactly where to go,

&&I really don`t think that the size of the population matters
because there alot of Chinese people here too. “((・Д・*)

yo ace...daymn man thats some dope ass photography skills son! wanna do tha same thing with my hair? bwhaha...

i didnt realize that was your hair until now. yo i think your hair dope! soo clean...better than mine.

your top is lookin clean man. for the back...hmm let that grow out a lil. especially the 'mullet' part. question tho, have you taken some hair product on the palm and just lifted the back? id try that...see if that works.

as for the gatsby vids...forget those! it will impossible to get your hair like that. unless you gotta pro for that or have uber time in your hands [which i dont have] what i say is lock yourself in the bathroom for the longest time and just play with your hair. buh seriously if you do want it...minus well go the 'moving rubber' website and watch their vids. they show you how to do it...buh i says its bs [cause i cant do it...T_T]
