Umm I don't think its harder to style if you got longer hair, depends on what style you are going for. I use a straightener, takes me 5 min and styles long hair very well, I rarely use wax at all.

alright i got a question, how do you get the top part to stand up once it's freaking long? my top part is like 2-3 inches long now and wax alone isn't getting the job done anymore

If you want volume use a straightener like Gofishus said. Maybe add some hairspray to the roots as well.

But if you really want it to spike UP then use loads of hairspray I guess lol.

Hi all, I'm currently in the process of getting a new asian hair cut but the problem is.... I used to have ridiculously short hair.... spiky and all that boring stuff. At this moment I've been growing the darn thing for roughly 2 months now.... still a LONG way to go T_T here's some pics to show how long it is atm. added a bit of gain/gamma via photoshop to the photos to make it a bit more clear






I've been browsing the net for pictures of hairstyles I might want and I found this. Oddly enough it came from a youtube vid. Go figure.



If any of you have better pictures of this sort of hairstyle, please send em over! Btw, from what you see, just how much longer do you think it will take for my hair to be the proper length? Should I get my hair thinned at a barbershop to speed up the process (aka make hair grow faster)? In terms of Gatsby products, do you think the green/purple one would be fine for it? What does the Gatsby yellow nuance do for that hair?

Grow it for like 7+ months.

Don't get it thinned to make it "grow faster", that's just a ridiculous myth.

On another note, if you take on that hairstyle you should change your overall appearance/style to match it. (New glasses come to mind)

I have the issue of it getting unmanigable when the top part of my head furthest to the back gets thick.
I'm starting to notice my hair is getting longer, so I'm happy haha.
Only 3 or 4 months to go now...according to the hot chick up there.

but the curvy part, and the one on the top are really long to be maintened up in the hair (imo) and i think i haven't got enough skill to try it.. but i haven't got thinned / layered hair so i think it's why i'm having hard time to make the upper part up XD !

btw here are the picture on how i'm doing the back part of my hair (requested by 2people) :

after towel drying + puting the lotion to the roots, give a general shape to the hair with brush :



then blow dry using your brush, make sure you hair blow drying to the roots to keep your hair up
i'm making the top part going to the back in order to get some more volume when i'll put it to the side/front (cuz i'm not doing the ffxiii hairstyle to go out lol, to crazy and not so good imo :/ ..)
should look like this :




notice that i haven't touch the bottom of the back, just letting it going down cuz if i make it going up, it will be curvy when i'll try to put it down wich is really ugly :/

then the straightening part begin :
Grab them at this angle, to the roots, and grad (in a first time) as much hair as possible :


then turn the straightener and go up:


grabbing and straightening a lot of hair at the same time help em to stay up (thnx shimmy XD !)

once you've got your hair up, do the exact same step, head down, but this time, grab less hair (i'm doing lines, starting from the middle part of the back, then going to the top, the bottom, i just straighten it in order to make it stick to my neck)

should look like this :


then i grab some fiber wax (Loréal 3Sculpte, but it's expensive, and don't worth it HAHA !!! don't buy this product :/ not joking, no time to style, sticky, and make my hair look gross if i just put a lil too much of it T_T ...)

then apply to the hair in order to look like a tree, or a MOUNTAIN OR AN ICE CREAAAAAM >_< ! O_O°°°° !!



at this point, you can now do ANYTHING you want, just adjust, change the angle of different parts, rub some hair to do spikes, and thats all =D !
