I am going to major in the Business field, and I need help deciding which class I should take. I only have one option and I have to choose between psychology and sociology. For those that don't know, psychology is more the minds of small groups/individuals and sociology is about the bigger communities etc. Which course do you think I will benefit the most from as a business major? Don't ask me what specific major I am doing, because I'm still undecided... Thanks for your help!

i think both are useful in a business major. i've taken both courses before and i must say that you go with what you think is interesting. you won't regret it cause you will learn more if you're interested.

and between the two, i thought psychology was more interesting. it's just me. i've seen a thread like this before and some people say sociology is better than psychology. hehe. ^^

Psychology! I haven't taken a college level sociology class... but based on what I have read on the subject (textbook, professor's essays), most of sociology is just so common sense if you make mature observations about your society. Sociology bores me to tears.

I think you should take both...definetly! You'd probably take them anyway as part of gen.ed requirements but I really liked both classes. Both would probably be pretty useful as a business major...although I think it depends on what area you'd want to focus on.

Both would be best, but for business I think sociology would be more useful. Knowing how society works and understanding societal trends and whatnot are important. Psych is very individual-based.

I've taken both and have found connections between economics and sociology

Both? If I HAD to pick one, then sociology. Doesn't deal with the 'human mind' as much, but more into stats and eco.

I took sociology last semester. Passed the class with a C. Very interesting class, but the exams were too damn hard. @_@

Well, it seems to me most people who replied/voted and chose psychology was because
1) they liked it more, and/or
2) they've never studied sociology

So you shouldn't be so easily swayed by a soompi poll. Really do the research to see which would be more beneficial for your major (assuming you're not just taking it to fulfill breadth or something)
