but you're interested in interior, why would you go into fine arts?
fine arts is very "skill-driven" major. it's nothing like design. do you think you would be comfortable switching to this major? do you have a serious art skill or, are you a new comer just wanting to learn?
from what you've mentioned, i don't think you should change into fine arts. interior is what you're interested in. you should stick to that.
what you should do is take a year/semester off and just prepare your portfolio.
since it was summer, it would've been good opportunity for you to take a summer drawing/painting studio session.
even testing out an interior design course; if you're in ny i know FIT offers summer interior (decorating) programs.
do realize that there is interior decorating and interior/architectural design. they are very different from one another. i think you are more interested in the interior decorating though?
the portfolio into art school should show you have a basic understanding of executing realism and 3d space... so don't do anything too abstract or avante garde. still lifes, figure drawings, interior space drawings are all a plus. i dont think changing your major into fine arts would teach you this within the time period you need to transfer. just do the best you can on your own. hope i can help you.

#1--i wasnt sure what i wanted to be, so i started taking some classes are community college first. i was glad i did because it really helped me discover what type of art i liked and helped build my artistic skills. i also took a portfolio class which helped me tremendously when it was time to apply for school (transfer to a 4 year). im going in as a sophmore, but i have all my pre req's done, so i get to focus on just art for 3 years. id recommend community college first if u wanna save money and/or build ur skills first--plus i met sum really great teachers that guided me along my way. u may show a portfolio to a 4 year and they may accept u right away (yay) or they may tell u, u need to better ur skills. id check out a national portfolio day (held around the year) and check out the schools in ur area and maybe even get sumone to check out ur portfolio to tell u what they think? maybe i helped u a little? good luck
