I don't understand how all of this could have happened, since I looked at the copies of the checks and they were sent to the right address... but someone else was able to cash them. I also don't understand how they were able to cash my checks when the signer did not have a name even remotely close to mine... I'm just hoping that whoever was working at the bank and cashed these checks get fired.
Anyway, the thing is, I visited the financial aid office this week because I really need some kind of money. I was told that the whole process of getting back my money would take 30 - 60 days, and I really couldn't wait that long for the money, so I asked the specialist at the office if there was any way I could get some funds while waiting for this to all play out and whatnot. The only option I had was a Stanford loan, which she told me would take about 30 days for me to receive. Needless to say, I was kind of pissed off. I mean, shouldn't the financial aid office be prepared for these types of situations? I mean the situation I am in now is pretty much the same thing as if I hadn't taken out a loan in the first place. I asked the lady if there was maybe anyone else I could talk to about this, and she told me that even if I did, there was nothing that could be done... and then she proceeded to talk to me like the only reason I wanted to talk to someone else was to tell them that she did a bad job in telling me my options or something. That pissed me off, too. The only reason why I wanted to talk to someone else was because I am freaking in desperate need for some funds, and I was just playing my chances. Anyway, I talked to her supervisor who pretty much told me she couldn't do anything about it. The lady I first talked to of course found it necessary to tell her supervisor in front of me that she had told me all of my options and all that crap... pretty much making me look like a retard for having come to her in the first place.
Anyway, I get the feeling that once this ordeal is all over, the only thing I'm gonna get is my money. The thing is, I'm wondering if there should be anything else I should be getting? I mean, the reason why I took out the loans was because my parents are having a bit of a hard time financially... my dad had to borrow money to help me pay off stuff that I was supposed to be paying off with the perkins loan I took out. Anyway, is there anything else I should be doing? I mean, the financial district people are figuring out where my money went and etc., but is there any other action that I should be taking other than simply waiting? Does anyone know what I should be doing in this situation? I just feel as if I could or should be doing something to ensure that I get at least a freaking batch of cookies for all the trouble and stress I've been going through because of all this.
Sorry for kind of turning this into a rant, but it just sort of turned out that way as I kept typing.
