hello everyone.

I've been really stressed out lately...its to the point where i just give up and let the day drift by. I'm very very into my family, and i dedicate 110% of my emotions to help them. The other day, i was ticked off by my lil bro...he got me so angry that i cried. He was so out of control that i didn't even know what to do. I usually could keep my cool and relax. But i am still angry and stressed out. I just know that this kind of feeling isn't healthy. And now, i can't seem to relax and focus. I have 4 finals to study for and i need something to calm me down.

I'm not religious, but a friend told me that i should seek something higher. I was thinking about getting a bible and start reading it. Or yoga? should i buy a dvd of yoga and start learning it? i need something to do to keep my mind healthy and focus.

Do you guys have any tips? thanks.

Um try a relaxation technigue. Get yourself to a quiet place and just relax. Or, take a long walk or tell your friends about it and they can comfort you. Or watch a funny movie to make you laugh. If none of those work, then it is a serious problem and you should see a doctor or something

You could try 2 meditate.

Got this from a site:

Sit quietly in a comfortable place (in any comfortable position you want). Now speak (or say quietly ) in your mind:

" Dear God, you are everywhere because you are the sum total of this whole consciousness pervading in the universe. So whatever has happened, whatever is happening and whatever will happen, everything is in accordance with your supreme wish. There is nothing in the past, present or in future that can happen without your consent because everything that happens at any point of time is just the play of supreme consciousness which is you. So I bow to you. I seek refuge in you. I accept everything that you desire for me be it good or bad."

Now after saying this just sit silently and surrender yourself to this existence. Let everything happens on its own. If thoughts come let them come, if tears come let them flow, if laughing comes let it come. Don't interfere in whatever is happening. Suddenly you will realize that there is someone in you who is beyond thoughts, emotions, feelings, pain, ecstasy, joy and sorrow. Someone who is watching everything that is going on. This knower is self.

Congratulation, you have meditated successfully.

When I can't concentrate or feel stressed, I either flip on the radio and dance or just read. You could try that.

Yoga and meditation are two good ways to calm down.
Meditation is quite hard at first though. Yoga includes a bit of meditation so it so be good for you.

I'm not sure if this will work for you but I learned it from somewhere and it works good for me. After a couple of times it gets a lot easier to calm down using this method.
  1. Shut EVERYTHING off.
  2. Push aside your books or anything you need to do.
  3. Sit in meditation stance(?)
  4. Close your eyes
  5. Try your best to get everything off your mind
  6. Slowly inhale through your nose (6 seconds). As you do this imagine a white light with feel only good go in.
  7. Slowly exhale through your mouth (10 seconds). As you do this imagine all the negative thoughts go out with it.
  8. 8) Repeat step 6 and 7.

Dang, I feel sorry for you.
Have you ever tried praying to God about your problems? And when you do say a prayer, use God's name.
If you don't think that religion helps out any in keeping your cool after a family fued, seek help by going to a health professional.
For now, if anyone ever makes you angry, go straight up to your room and write it down in your diary, listen to your favorite musician (is it korean??? smile.gif )
and try to get sleep...
By the time you wake up, the stress will have disappeard!
Hope that helps out~

Some time ago, I also felt the same way--very stressed and I just couldn't find peace of mind. I'll suggest a few things I did that worked for me, and maybe, try it to see if it works for you.

-> Followed a Tai Chi exercise video. [Don't have the time and money to go to a personal trainer. sweatingbullets.gif ] It helped me regain my energy, and it's low-impact, so it won't exhaust you. I'm sure yoga will have similar effects.
-> Ate healthier. Sounds preachy, but eating good food at the proper times helped. No more skipping meals or pigging out. Fruit shakes with milk are yummy and healthy!
-> Get enough sleep, for obvious reasons.
-> Getting in touch with your spiritual side is a good idea. Depending on your personality, you can do it alone, or you can join a group [in church, or something]. If in a group, make sure you are at ease with the other people, if not, it can prove more stressful than beneficial.

Do take care of yourself. Being a giving person who takes care of other people is good, but you can't take care of other people if you're not in good shape! Good luck!
