Heh, the rice pudding thread over yonder made me think of this.
Title explains it all. When it comes to food, does it's texture have an impact on whether or not you like it?

I don't know many people who are like that, but I'm totally a texture person. I don't like mushrooms because the texture is just gross; I hate how it feels when you bite into it too. Same with things like rice pudding and Kheer, which is an Indian pudding-type food. And flan. I'd probably like flan if not for the texture. unsure.gif

YES. Usually it's a combination of texture and taste, but if it bothers me enough texture alone can make me not like something.

For example, I love the taste of coconut, but I hate coconut shreds/flakes. I hate the gritty texture, but for some reason everybody else loves them. And then there's fish. Sometimes I can eat fish b/c it tastes okay, I would probably like it more if it weren't for the texture. I don't know how to describe it, but I just don't like the texture of cooked fish. Sashimi on the other hand I love and the texture is different.

I don't like sushi ohmy.gif lol. I don't like anything mushy and raw fish sort of has that kind of consistency which bothers me.

texture of food is really important to me! nothing nicer than fresh, crispy out-of-the-fryer chips or crunchy apples or mushyness of mashed potatoes smile.gif

part of the reason why i hate bananas is b/c of its mushiness...i hate the way it sounds when people are chewing on it ughhhhhh......... the texture of oysters also puts me off, but i can tolerate it because i like the taste =)

It does sometimes. But if it the food tastes good I don't really mind the texture being weird.

I don't like mushrooms and squid because of its texture. I don't like anything squishy and mushy in my mouth, especially when I chew. sleep.gif"

yes. it's not the most important thing on the list...but it's still important.
like...i LOVE the korean pear drinks..cuz you can feel the gritty pear bits.
and i can't octopus or squid just cuz it's so tough and chewy.

LOL. Textures are really cool - I love how they combine in really good entrees...like a crispy parmesan flake in a bowl of hot soup, or soft lettuce leaves paired with crunchy, cold veggies and tender fruit. I don't think there's a texture I especially dislike...OH! except animal fat...wow, that's nasty

The textures of the food are sooo interesting. Seriously, it just moves around in your mouth and hits your tongue and everything. So awesome. And sometimes its slippery and some other times its crunchy. Seriously. very good, one of the best parts of food, apart from the taste that is.

OH YES. Heh people who see me eat watermelon think I eat funny because I don't like gritty foods, so if it's really red and kinda 'sand', I prefer not to eat it, while that is where the watermelon's "best" according to other people. I like the part closer to the skin, and I eat half through the white part ^^

And I don't like wet jelly block drinks. Just jelly feels fine, but in a drink it's feels weird.
