I know I know... its like WHAT?! Jun's thinkin about hoppin over to the Mercedes side?!

Well not quite, but I really do love the E55 AMG's.

I can sell my car for about $55k dollars. I see many E55 AMG's with 40k-60k miles goin for $45k-$50k. I've found a couple in my area as well. Both private party and dealerships.

E55 AMG's are beasts. There's no doubt about it. With 470HP and 512lbs of torque... it hauls some major A$$. 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 12.4 seconds bone stock. But of course the downfall to this car and like any other Mercedes... it's going to be an Automatic and weigh well over 4000lbs.

My E46 M3 is not as fast in a straight line, but it definately handles much better and more fun to drive. You can toss it around more and best of all... it's a 6-speed manual with only 5700 miles so far. It'll probably lap faster times around a track too. But on the freeway or a drag race... I'd be eaten.

What do you guys think?

I'm more biased and like BMW better. But I won't deny Mercedes AMG cars being fast and nice.

easy choice, m3 anyday. but of course you know i would say that. mercedes are for sissy boys. mercedes are for people just wanting to show off money, bmw m cars are for people who actually want to drive. besides big power is lame with an auto transmission and a high curb weight. besides the e46 m3 looks better imo

plus i hate woring on mercedes, but im biased because i work in a bmw and porsche shop. but sometimes a friend of the shop brings in a mercedes, they are no bueno

Because I already have 2 guys offering $55k. I'm just holding off on them. E46 M3's with 35k-40k miles and in worse condition are selling for $45k-$50k here.

lol are you serious? A couple options on a Brand New M3 out the door after taxes and license... it's easy to hit $60k. Most guys paid that price for their brand new M3's. And do you remember? When the E46 M3 first came out, they were selling for almost $80k with the markup. Kinda like how new Bimmers are selling right now because of dealer markups. The price usually falls back to normal after a year.

Yup, well when they first came out it was way up there but recently as I was researching into the E46-series I never saw an M3 above 60k. Highest I ever saw is probably 55k. I hate dealership markups though, I remember when I was looking for an Evo 9 right when it came out we were real limited and dealerships were asking 40k+ for an Evo 9 MR

i thought your mods were just the wheels and badges? i would take 55k so fast if i were you. you can easily get 2001-2002 e46 m3's for below 30k these days

my friend has both cars... The BMW is def. more driver oriented and the Benz is def. more of a luxury car, but still he drives the m3 more.

Stick with the m3! I would think after a while the e55 would get boring...

The e55 amg was and still remains my "practical" dream car. (Dream dream car would be the murc lp640 roadster)
Luxury and speed + 500 pounds of torque at 2.5k rpm ::drool::

of course the m3 is no slouch either and yours is beautiful. Whichever option you choose, you still win... and i'm still jealous -0-

imho, keep the m.

i am sure the benz is a fast car, however i reassure you the car will not have the fun factor found in the m3. if you want comfort with space, then the benz is the better choice... but at this time and age, nothing will take my comfort and space until i get children.

Ok. I've read into it and it seems like ALOT of Mercedes owners have major problems. Especially electrical. I've talked to guys who've owned E55 AMG's and they are telling me that although its a nice and fast car... it'll spend most of its time at the dealership with the problems they have. They have sold their cars for a BMW. lol

I think I'm going to keep it or maybe an E39 M5. They're very affordable now. hmmm

sell the m3 and make a downpayment for an M5.

if you dont track the m3 much, the E55 would be a nice upgrade as well.

also the g can already run mid 13s stock and the hks intakes adds an estimated 10 extra hp and the exhausts add like 8 so yeah it should shove off about 1.5 to 2 sec off my times
