Hi!
I was going to study for the PSAT during the summer.
And I wanted to know which books help the most in studying for the PSAT.
I took a practice test a couple of months ago..
And i need the most help with the reading comprehension and vocabulary parts.
Thanks for your help! laugh.gif

*ADDED: JUNE 3RD

is it also true that if you take the PSAT your sophomore year, you can't qualify for the national merits?

Well the thing is, that's the PSATs. The PRACTICE SATs, why do you need to practice book for a mock test? No college will look at that score.

For the SATs though, i only had one book and i think it was from the Collegeboard itself, so it was exactly like the real SATs, so doing those test that they provided in there was helpful.

And wait, the SATs are in Korea too? I thought it was only an American thing or are you trying to go to college in America? I hated the SATs though, too much hype about one stupid little test tongue2.gif , glad i got it over with. Good Luck on yours, just relax and don't worry too much, those who do are usually those who already prepared enough.

What reallyAmused said, you don't need a practice book for the PSAT. It's just a test that reflects how you will do on your SAT. Your school should have given you a mini practice test booklet that will show you what to expect for the PSAT.

I have a PSAT book that I used and I'm willing to sell it.
I barely wrote in it...maybe highlighted one or two sentences.

There are practice tests after every chapter about the chapter.
And there are 2 or 4 practice tests for the PSAT (not really sure, have to check).
The practice tests are not used at all.
The book is almost completely new.

PM if interested. (:

when people say PSATs don't matter, they're just not informed. i used to think that too ... until i was informed that WHAT GRADE YOU GET ON YOUR PSATS IS THE FIRST WAY COLLEGES SEE YOU

BASED ON YOUR PSAT SCORE, THEY BEGIN SENDING YOU BROCHURES / INFORMATION / ETC

your grades & transcript helps with the college mail stuff
but another part of it is PSAT too.

personally i can't stop reccommending the princeton review prep books.
i took the princeton review prep course .. and have the whole set of books, unmarked, and i would sell to you if you like. =]
but honestly, look into it. princeton review is really great.

i dont kno which books are best for studying psats, but generally if you prepare and do well for the sats, ull do well on psats too...
so you could buy some of the recommended books up there...

the psats are there for some ppl to just take a shorter practice test for the sat... but for others its to qualify for the national merit scholarship program..

im guessing ure going to be a soph next year?
well i guess you can study ahead of time, but it wont do too much for you since you cant qualify for national merit until junior year...
but.. its better than cramming summer before junior year

oo n like gwendolyn said, if you do well, colleges usually send you brochures and stuff

hope that helps =]
