My parents finally budged on letting me get my own cellphone >.<. They said it's not money wise, but they don't want me to be on it all day (Etc.). Anyway, my mom said if I can find a simple plan where it's only to be used for ___ minutes a f=day and emergencies (Etc.) I can get that cell phone. My problem is though, I cant find a good plan.

For example at AT&T the phones are free as long as you pay monthly (etc.) this would be great but I cant find a proper plan that wont cost too muc.

Help me please?

Get the plan Pay-as-go, you buy mins, when you run out of mins, you buy more mins, you don`t have to pay monthly, it`s whatever mins you paid for like if you pay $20, you get like ___ that amount of minutes, and you can always buy more when you run out.

yah pre-paid is a good idea if you're not gonna be on the phone that much. you can use it only when you really really need too. but if you run out of mins, which you always do, it's a bug to run to the store to buy more minutes. i have t-mobile. 600 anytime, free nights and weekend for 40 bucks a month. plus unlimited texting (14.99 more). so i just text people until my minutes are free. so it's like 55 bucks a month.

I think in your situation, a prepaid plan would be the easiest way to go.
Your parents can easily give you an allowance of minutes to use, and you can't go over your minutes since service cuts off if you don't have enough money - this'll make you more conscious of how often you're using the phone - and it's easy to deal with.
Or if your parents already have cellphone plans, see if it'd be easier to add on to that, family plan or something (I'm not too sure how that works)

If your parents already have a plan together, then why not add you? It only costs $10 more to add another line, every month. Plus you should get unlimited nights and weekends depending on the type of plan.

But if they don't, then Metro PCS/Cricket isn't bad. It's good for the people that don't want to pay a lot, but there service nationwide, meaning reception, kinda sucks, but that shouldn't be an issue if you don't travel a lot.

wow you guys pay a lot for your plans
Well I live in Canada, so maybe that's a factor
and i'm with Telus and I have the Palm Treo 700p

I pay 20 bucks (would be 15 if i didn't get text) before taxes for my phone plan and I get:
Call Display
100 Text Messages (5 bucks), can get unlimited for another 5.
Call Forwarding
Voice Mail
Unlimited weekends and nights

Sounds good. biggrin.gif I was about to switch over from MetroPCS to Cricket when I read your post but then.....
Cricket doesn't have very good coverage areas. Eh.

So @ Topic Starter : depending on where you live, I suggest that you get MetroPCS or Cricket.
PLUR.

^ I heard cricket sucks though.
But I suggest getting a pay-as-you-go plan. Its cheap & your mom doesn't have to worry about you being on the phone all day. [:

QUESTION ABOUT PAY-AS-U-GO

If they say you get 100 text per month and 60 mins calling time, if i dont use those in the first month will it roll-over to the next month? Or is it like "Too bad you didnt use it all this month, so this month is expired" Please Pay another $25 bucks for next month?????????

The way prepaid plans work is that if you add minimal amount of money the plan works for 30 days, after that when it expires you lose it all. The more money you toss on the account the longer it lasts. They do not last forever because you have to keep adding money to extend the expiration date so it lasts longer.
