Your parents can easily give you an allowance of minutes to use, and you can't go over your minutes since service cuts off if you don't have enough money - this'll make you more conscious of how often you're using the phone - and it's easy to deal with.
Or if your parents already have cellphone plans, see if it'd be easier to add on to that, family plan or something (I'm not too sure how that works)

But if they don't, then Metro PCS/Cricket isn't bad. It's good for the people that don't want to pay a lot, but there service nationwide, meaning reception, kinda sucks, but that shouldn't be an issue if you don't travel a lot.

Well I live in Canada, so maybe that's a factor
and i'm with Telus and I have the Palm Treo 700p
I pay 20 bucks (would be 15 if i didn't get text) before taxes for my phone plan and I get:
Call Display
100 Text Messages (5 bucks), can get unlimited for another 5.
Call Forwarding
Voice Mail
Unlimited weekends and nights

Sounds good.
Cricket doesn't have very good coverage areas. Eh.
So @ Topic Starter : depending on where you live, I suggest that you get MetroPCS or Cricket.

But I suggest getting a pay-as-you-go plan. Its cheap & your mom doesn't have to worry about you being on the phone all day. [:

If they say you get 100 text per month and 60 mins calling time, if i dont use those in the first month will it roll-over to the next month? Or is it like "Too bad you didnt use it all this month, so this month is expired" Please Pay another $25 bucks for next month?????????

The way prepaid plans work is that if you add minimal amount of money the plan works for 30 days, after that when it expires you lose it all. The more money you toss on the account the longer it lasts. They do not last forever because you have to keep adding money to extend the expiration date so it lasts longer.
