I think you could go to youth clinics (if you're 19 or under) to get birth control and your parents wouldn't know about it. It's usually 99% effective from what I heard, correct me if I'm wrong. No, you do not get fatter from it, it's a myth.

They are cheap, around $15 or lower for one pack, they carry many brands,
they even give them for free, but it depends on the state.
Where I live, if you make less than 1200$ per month, you can get a year supply for free.
As getting fat, it depends, every person gets different side effect.
Some people get fatter, or get break outs, or increase appetite, or dizzy, or bleeding, etc
I'm on Orthotricylen Lo, I don't get any negative side effects, but some people do.

About the weight gain..I don't think it's a total myth. I talked to the nurse at planned parenthood and she said a possible side effect of THE SHOT is weight gain. so...idk. It depends on the person, like every other side effect of any birth control.

It cost $5 for a pack that lasts a month. I'm really shocked about how expensive the pill is in USA. very very shocked. I think we're a pretty lucky country because buying particular contraception such as the morning/after pill is just over the counter, althought it wasn't legal a few years ago. =D
I take Trifeme and I don't get any side effects. I use to get easily emotional or moody but that's about it. My other friend lost a lot of weight when she was taking it. If it doesn't suit you, go see your doctor because their are other varieties that are suitable for you.

No it doesn't make you fatter, and yes your parents don't have to find out about it. Most health clinics give it to you free, if not for a low price...

Not everyone will experience the same side effects on birth control. I'm paranoid about the weight gain from birth control in case genetics might come into play >_<

Planned Parenthood works on a sliding scale, and they recently increased their prices. Depending on how much you do or do not make they will charge you. The more money you have, the more they charge.
When taken correctly (and there are certain windows of time that are considered correctly, for some pills you can take one 12 hours late and still be protected fully, but some it's only 2-3) it has a higher protection rate than condoms alone, although the pill does NOT guard against STD/STI's like a condom so keep that in mind.

yup, double protection is better than just one ^.- Weight gain is most definitely not a myth - most people gain at least a few pounds while on the pill (4 for me) but it can be minimized by exercise..

yeah.
I heard they don't ask for prove though
so you could lie on the "How much is your allowance/ how much do you make in a month" question

actually the whole patient-doctor confidentiality is only if the patient is over 18 i believe. the parent has every right to know what is wrong with his/her child when they are still minors.
but all i know about birth control pills is that it's NOT a myth because it's manipulating your hormones, and stuff. I'm too lazy to explain.
to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or
betrayed, or left behind, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their
sweetness. Tell yourself that you tasted as many as you could." -- Louise Erdrich
