The DS has some GREAT games, they are really fun and the multiplayer function is great! the games are more nintendo oriented.
I would get the one where your friends has so you can multiplayer.

And just like the other thread, my answer is the same: Just Get Both.
Seriously, don't even think of it as which is better than the other...rather, think of it: what different fun things can each console give me for me to be entertained in every way?
Cuz really, both consoles have something the other doesn't, and just having only one side of entertainment rather than having both sides won't really provide you with complete entertainment. Having only the PSP won't change the fact that it lacks exciting game interactions that the DS can provide. Likewise, having only the DS won't change the fact that it lacks awesome graphics and versatility, something the PSP can provide.
Then again, it's really up to you, of course.
But of course if this is a matter of MONEY...then just get the DS first; it's cheaper.

if your kinda lacking cash but can afford it.. go for DS.. its just 130 bucks + games are 35 each!
so id say PSP is for mature audiences who likes to watch movies and whatnot and DS is for younger audiences who likes pokemon and stuff.. lol my 11th grader friends play Pokemon at lunch and its really funny watching them play

I agree with dudeman, just get both.
If you can't decide, then just get both. You'll be happy.

i have a PSP
i can assure that the DS will keep you entertained longer, so it's more worth it in the long run :] See, the DS has WAAY more good games, where as the PSP is lacking good games. So the psp has music and video capabilities; i take advantage of those. now if you dont wanna use money to buy movies, you have to download and convert; not fun. and not to mention the expensive memory cards
DS - pokemon, kirby, cooking mama, final fantasy, legend of zelda coming up, alot of stuff that makes it awesome.
GO GO GO DS!

I really really want a DS Lite, mainly because there's sooo many fun games that I'd like to play, and hey, who doesn't want to play with a touch screen? ^^
*sigh* I want a pokemon pearl/diamond

It really depends. If you want to watch movies and listen to music as well as play games, get the psp. I chose to go for the ds lite since I wanted to play games on my system. 2nd, I think the battery life is greater on the ds, and there's a greater number of games for the ds.
the psp has pretty sweet graphics but they're pretty much the same as a ps2 (which I already have), plus the load times are pretty painful I heard. And personally, I think good graphics are only meant for larger screens instead of having a great amount of detail on a small screen. Plus I don't think I would want watch 2-3 hour long movies on such a small screen. And the music player built-in is pretty much useless since I already have an ipod.

* it's cheaper
* fun games
* more fun in the long run
* not too heavy/bulky
the PSP, I think, is impractical because:
* it's too heavy
* the screen is too small to watch movies on
* you have to invest in a larger memory stick on top of what u paid for it
* games are expensive
and come to think of it, most of the stuff that the PSP has, you most likely already have on your phone already minus the gaming.
