I really loved tonight's episode. Chuck was just so vulnerable, he looked like a wounded little bird. They made him so emotional and fragile. It was so heartbreaking seeing how little regard his father felt for him. And the revelation about his mom really helped clarify why Chuck is the way he is with everyone. It was great seeing Dan and Chuck bond, too bad Chuck found out Dan was just using him for a story. But at least Dan decided not to be like Chuck and exploit him for his own gain. He chose not to write about Chuck. I didn't really care about the Blair and Serena fight. It was predictable because Serena is the new queen and Blair always get things blown back in her face when she tries to sabatoge someone. I was highly disappointed about Chair's interactions. Again, one of them always have to be mean and nasty to the other. It's like a vicious cycle. Just get together already and run over everyone at the school.

Chuck's character is the best in the show, it's very rounded compared to some others. I feel bad for him though, when he starts to trust Dan, he gets betrayed again. It's like he can trust no one and depend on no one. Jenny... I understand now why she'll do what she does, but she's so ungrateful, and too much superficial. I like Serena's character now, this episode justifies her new attitude. She really should be herself and Blair should respect that, it's just arrogant that she had to put it so bluntly; but of course she had to to get the message across.

I hate what the writers are doing to Serena. In all honesty, the foundation of her character was supposed to be the fun-loving, carefree, NICE girl. I mean, didn't she coach Blair on how to be NICE, during the first season? And now look at what she's doing. It's just so hypocritical.

Well...humans ARE hypocritical. If they had all the characters stick to every single word/action that they said, it would be an incredibly dull and unrealistic story.

lol i love how almost every great/memorable line in the show has either been delivered by Chuck or is about Chuck. this week:

It's funny how Blair is so played down in this episode looks-wise. It's as if her hair is sad too as she loses popularity lol. This episode was boring. the next one in 2 weeks looks quite interesting, plus hottie Nate is in it (he didnt appear in this one, boo). Hope Chuck&Blair aren't done forever =T

I have not read the books, but according to people who have (and Wikipedia ), Serena's real book character is supposed to be even worse than the TV one. I stopped preferring Serena over Blair a couple of episodes into the first season. Just for clarification, Serena was always supposed to be the bad girl and Blair the pinkberry. I like how this show distinguishes the "bad girl" from the "mean girl."

I'm being really shallow, but I have a hard time believing the story with Blake Lively as Serena... she just doesn't look the part of a gorgeous girl who wins everyone over. I think Blair is the beautiful one? Just my taste...

Not to make a TV show sound more deep than it should be, but I was thinking, the viewer's preference of Serena or Blair depends somewhat on culture. I'm half raised in Asia and half in the US, and I just see Serena as the all-American girl and that's why everyone I know roots for her. I tend to be really Asian at times and think that Blair should be commended for doing hard work, staying on top in school, not being a druggie/alcoholic... and her evil ways are just a defense mechanism for always being undervalued haha, just my two cents.

i think it's because she kind of looks too old for the cast... i don't know.

i think the whole thing with Blair trying to reconcile with Serena was hilarious.
I loved the part when she said something about Serena "besides the fact that's you're being conceited?" or something along those lines.

Chuck, Blair -- the two best characters.

The whole idea behind Chuck befriending Dan for like a millisec was beautiful.
I kind of wished they kept at it and made the whole Chuck-finding-out-about-Dan's-story the topic for the next episode.
That whole thing was way too rushed and I kind of liked the budding friendship between the two.

That's the point. Serena is wild/young and her mom is pretty much exactly the same and only a tiny bit wiser. I definitely have friends who's moms are like their friends--their constantly talking about their dates (some of them are single moms), clothes, boys, friend issues, etc. I think Lily and Serena's relationship is a pretty accurate portrayal for the young, fun mom/mature, fun daughter type.

i soo totally agree with you. serena really doesnt appreciate what blair does for her but at the same time, blair was insecure about her little groupies.
