THE AIR CAR

A non-polluting car that actually cleans the air and only needs a small amount of oil that only needs changing every 50,000km

The inventor is a Spanish guy named Guy Negre. He invented the engine years ago but wasn't able to get car manaufacturers to use it cuz it would require too many changes so he decided to build a whole new car for it.

The car is long ranged compared to electric vehicles and it uses some kind of wirelss radio tech for all of the inside electronics. The exhaust is 14 degress below zero so no need for an air conditioner.

Normally I wouldn't mention this cuz he was only successful in selling small dealerships/manufacturing plants to wealthy individuls around the world but now he has just decided/signed an agreement with TATA motors of India which is a large vehicle manufacturer. Since the car will also work on gasoline and other fuels the TATA motors manufacturer is going to be making models that use only air in the city but use fuel on the highways.

Guy Negre also has some really neat ideas on making underwater generators that create compressed air so that people will drive up to the dock and refill their cars like this.

It's only non-polluting if the source of the compressed air is generated with a clean energy source.

Imagine the outrageous amount of energy it would need to compress whatever the amount of air this thing needs. Don't forget that if you're using electricity from American power plants, most of it comes from coal power plants that exhaust millions of tons of carbon dioxide.

Then buy a good vertical axis windmill (it works in low wind) or uhhhm a solar panel or solar panels and then plug the car in to your house. Did anyone read the website?

I have a Mei Mei (Mandarin for younger sister) in Arizona.
She just told me that she bought a house. I was like WTF blink.gif

I'm lower middle class in L.A., almost no hope of ever getting a house without becoming a slave to a mortgage. I have to come up with a clever plan (Yes I have one).

Did you read the website? Ok uhhm, on second thought I know you didn't.
There is an onboard compressor that you can plug into a power outlet, hardly an outrageous amount of energy.

Ok let's just talk about this "poo pooing" of the non-polluting end user.

Entertain me for a second here with a mental excercise:

Let's imagine that we eliminated all the CO2 from all of the power plants in America.
All of them are powered by ocean waves, deep water power, tidal flows, kite windmills, regular windmills, offshore windmills, vertical axis windmills, solar concentrators, solar thermal generators, geothermal, and just regular old solar panels. <----Just a short list

Ok so now there is no CO2 from the power plants.
Except we are still driving cars that use gasoline and they are emitting CO2!
So we still haven't solved the problem cuz uhhmmmmm, we are
shhhhhhhhhhhh, don't tell any of the other countries this.

WE ARE CAR ADDICTED!

Yeah we like cars.... Oh wait a second, the rest of the world already knows this cuz they see us buying most of the oil to turn it into gasoline!
And something like 35% of the CO2 is from cars.

So no you are WRONG.
A non-polluting end user is still non-polluting. There is such a thing as overthinking. It's all about making a stand for what is right and what is progress towards free clean energy.
You can charge the air car with electricty from a variety of non-polluting sources.

Go buy a terrapass right now! and take responsibility for your car emissions.

It's great that the Americans have consumers who are concious about the environment but in order to meet demands for electricity, the US is building hundreds more coal and natural gas burning power plants while at the same time, they're making tough restrictions on automobile emissions. What kind of progress is that when they're building these power plants?

Don't forget that China recently joined the US and Japan as the world's major oil consumers and China's demand is still growing quickly. That's right, they're joining the car-loving craze and also building coal plants.

Nuclear power generation is clean, has a good safety record and emits nothing more than steam into the atmosphere, but thanks to groups who call themselves environmentalists like the Sierra Club, construction of new nuclear plants has been made illegal. American politicians are afraid to even think about nuclear generation just so they can save their careers. Meanwhile, Japan and France are using this American developed technology to get energy much cleaner and cheaper than what coal and natural gas could ever do.

Btw, carbon offset credits like the terrapass is nothing but a fraud.

actually modern gas powered passenger cars are only responsible for like less than 10% of co2. big diesel trucks and what not pollute much more than a modern gas powered passenger car. my boss got back from an ASE meeting about the proposed law to smog cars every year (yeah its bs i know...) one thing mentioned during the meeting was that if everyone switched to ethanol fuels co2 emissions would only drop by about 3-5%. besides its big industries that produce the vast majority of pollution, so people should focus on them not cars. however big industry means they have expensive lawyers. i dont really have a point, i just like to pollute in my turbo rotary on the race track with no cat spewing out mass amounts of co2 and flames while laughing manically. at least ill have my kicks before the planet goes to hell.

oh and no i didnt click the link because that car looks lame. i would rather walk than drive that thing, it would probably be more exciting anyways.

all these power generators do not supply the demand of power needed by the average consumer. you know how many windmills we need to put out the same power as a small coal burning powerplant?

What's funny is that in terms of combustion efficiency, you want more CO2 coming out of your tailpipe than any of the other four gases. I'm not talking power and performance here either; for pollution, you'd much rather have CO2 than any of the other crap.

I asked you to imagine for a second that our petroleum and coal burning power plants were replaced by these other alternative types of energy generation as a mental excercise so we can talk about the CO2 emissions that get produced by cars.
I'm not trying to start another topic about alternative energy generation. Unless you want to.

Yes the car does look ugly, but I'm sure that isnt the point of the article. I'm glad there are people out there trying to improve and preserve the quality of our environment for the future.
