I just finished filing my fafsa. Took me an hour to do it, because of all the freaking distractions I had going on. I'm doing my OLDER sister's fafsa as well because she's slow and probably fill it out wrong. I absolutely HATE filling that freaking form out every year.

For my first year in college, my parents hired someone. He was super duper nice, and did everything so fast, it was crazy. It cost us about almost a grand though. wacko.gif

Who here does it by themselves or do you hire someone to do it for you? And if you've hired someone, how much did it cost you?
Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won't either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have
to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or
betrayed, or left behind, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their
sweetness. Tell yourself that you tasted as many as you could." -- Louise Erdrich

ugh yeah I don't know how I'd do it alone. My brother has a masters degree in TAXATION so it's only appropriate that he does the taxes haha. Before my brother knew how, my uncle did it for our family.

there should be workshops at your school that help you fill out your fafsa. i think $1000 is too much, cuz fafsa should take no longer than thirty minutes to fill out.

FAFSA was designed so an 'average' person can do it. "hiring" someone for a grand...is ridiculous.

tell me about it. My parents hired that person, well he does still help me out when i have questions. I think the reason my parents hired him for me was because when they tried doing it themselves for my brother, he got nothing, zip, ziltch, nada. I've been doing my sisters and mine for the past two years now. At my school, I don't think there is a workshop for it or maybe there is but just wasn't told about it.

I just did it myself. It's not that enjoyable or anything, but it is definitely possible to fill it out without anyone else's help, as long as you have all the necessary information. I do wish I knew a lot more about tax returns, though.

I fill it out myself...or if I have any questions, I email the people at the financial aid office at my school.

I'm a poor college student, I can't afford to spend $1000 on something that only takes an hour to do. I don't think I should have to spend that much money to get financial aid unsure.gif

eh i guess we did in a way, but he also called the university i was going to go to to see if i could get any more scholarship money from them. I got about 4 grand from them because of that. lol he also did my parents taxes that year so maybe that was ok? I don't know lol.

But what can you do? My parents were worried about the costs.

wow, a grand? i didn't even know you could hire people to do your fafsa. i used to go to this college counseling program at this non-profit organization and they did my fafsa for me. i'm a program alumni now but i still go back to them when it comes to fafsa.

FAFSA is totally pissing me off.. or rather, the accountant my parents hired is totally pissing me off. My parents gave him our info to file our taxes SO freaking long ago and we still have not gotten it back. My parents don't even care if I get the info back on time to make the FAFSA deadline at my school. Oh well, if I don't, they're freaking paying for it. sleep.gif

It's always really easy for me.
Our CPA or whatever gives us a print-out of whatever he did and I just follow that.
And my mom always helps cause some of the stuff I don't know.
But yeah - I get scared that i'll fill something out wrong.
The questions are so ajhdsjkd sometimes.

Why would you want to hire someone to fill out your FAFSA for you?? *weird* I personally thought it was pretty easy to fill it out because they gave you directions on how to find the answers. If I made an error, the financial office at my college will contact me and they will correct it for me.

im almost done with everything it's just that my MOM is taking forever on telling me her financial stuff.
i mean .. i have her tax return papers. but the questiong about the .. "as of today.." crap. URGH~ HATE IT~~

yeah my friend's parents hired someone to do it for them, too, but it didn't cost them a grand.
im not sure, but if i remember correctly .. it was less than 500.
