Hello, anybody familiar with Thai culture! I was recently given a project in my AP Human Geography class that deals with holidays around the world, and my group was assigned a presentation on any Thai holiday.

So..

Would anybody like to share with me a Thai holiday in which food plays a major role? And if you know one, which foods are usually prepared?

Hmm there is the new year ^ ^; That's mainly the big event . . or when some one dies there's a funeral but not really a funeral since people get drunk and sing xDD!

Almost all of the important main events involve monks that recite some words / prayers. and also karaoke

The food . . Uh. I don't know how to explain but mostly spices, rice, fish, treats etc?

It's just my family that celebrates that way so that's what I'm assuming . . because I've been to southeast asia and well when you have a celebration holiday whatever there's mostly family gatherings since everyone knows everyone.

That's my guessing on that =D You should try google and look it up ahaha! I'm not very traditional with these things >_<

Songkran = Thai New Year. It's on April 13-15 (forgot why 3 days, but it is always like that).

Loy Krathong = Don't really know how to describe this. People float lanterns made off banana leaves and such... err, you'll get a better explanation if you google it lol

Those are the two BIGGEST ones, in my opinion.

However, the January 1st New Year (like most other places around the world) is also VERY big. In fact, it's more of a New Year than Songkran.

And, some people celebrate Chinese New Year.

August 12th = National Mother's Day (Queen's birthday)
December 5th = National Father's Day (King's birthday)

Sorry, I can't think of any that involves food. For all the ones mentioned above, I suggest you go google them (because my explanation sucks)
