it costs $175 to cancel a contract early with verizon and then there's the fee for a new phone + new contract, but you don't have to pay the cancellation fee right when you cancel. they send you a bill at the end of the billing cycle.

Are you staying with Verizon after you get your new phone though?
I don't know about the CDMA services, but I'm guessing you can just bring your new phone in and they'll activate it ...
The GSM/Sim Card services like T-Mobile, you just buy a phone and transfer your sim card ... never had a CDMA phone so I don't know.

since your getting a korean phone, im thinking you will prob stay with verizon.
like above poster, just take the phone in and they'll activate it for you, no need to "break" your contract and pay useless amount of money.

Useless? I don't think so.
SKY IM-U160 with contract: $150
SKY IM-U160 without contract: $600
She's saving almost $300 by breaking the contract.

you do know if you cancel a plan with a certain provider u can't resign with them for a certain amount of time (unless your contract has already been expired and even then i think u have to wait a bit). for tmobile its like 6 months. otherwise it'll just be considered an "upgrade"
plus there is a contract fee and other fees + tax when you sign up. if you dont have good credit, you also have to make a deposit. and leaving a contract is $175 so u have to factor that in as well.
your loophole that u stated minji has been done before, but unless she gets a new contract with a different name, most phone carriers have blocked that loophole.
and yes useless would be the right word in this situation because you'll be without a phone for a long duration of time if you decided to to this.

so how much money are u actually saving? you're paying $375 for a phone, with a new contract. how much is the phone without a contract?
