ok so me and my brother share the internet and the cable modem is in his room. we have a router that connects into my computer but my computer wont work. his internet works but mine doesnt does anyone who what the problem is?

Go into view network connections > right click your "Local Area Connection" > Properties > Internet Protocol > Properties > Check the bubble Use the following IP address-
IP address: 192 168 1 101
Subnet mask: 255 255 255 0
Default getway: 192 168 1 101
Check the bubble Use the following DNS server addresses
Preferred DNS server: 192 168 1 1
Alternate DNS server: BLANK/NOTHING/NADA
Click Ok and Ok
Damnit that was a lot of clicking back and forth, I gotta get snagit again.
