Is Egg Yolk Bad 4 U?

well it contains tons of cholestrol.. so is it worth eating it or should we all just eat egg whites?

I heard the Egg Yolk is very good for you.
I didn't know it had high cholestrol 0__0;;
But I heard it's verrry good to eat the egg yolk.
I don't know if you heard this news.
But there's this old guy he's like 89 years old?
And he only drank egg yolk like ages 40 to 89 years old.
Well he would eat foods like rice and stuff, but when he's thirsty, he would drink egg yolk 0__0;
And he said it kept him strong o__o;;
And it helped him from making his heart disease go bad^^

The yolk makes up about 33% of the liquid weight of the egg; it contains approximately 60 calories, four times the caloric content of the egg white.

All of the fat soluble vitamins, (A, D, E and K) are found in the egg yolk. Egg yolks are one of the few foods naturally containing vitamin D.

The composition (by weight) of the most prevalent fatty acids in egg yolk is typically as follows:[1]

Unsaturated fatty acids:
Oleic acid 47 %
Linoleic acid 16 %
Palmitoleic acid 5 %
Linolenic acid 2 %
Saturated fatty acids:
Palmitic acid 23 %
Stearic acid 4 %
Myristic acid 1 %
Egg yolk is a source of lecithin, an emulsifier.

A large yolk contains more than two-thirds of the recommended daily limit of 300mg of cholesterol.

the yolk is the only thing bad in a egg. i alwayz only eat the white part ne wayz.

Ehh I don't really worry about it unless I find out I have a high cholesterol or whatever. But I try to avoid the egg yolk if it's cooked sunny side up smile.gif

Egg yolk is nutritional but also contains a lot of cholesterol. I used to eat just egg whites but now that I'm in college and the omelet here is served liquid egg style I just eat what I get ._.

It's fine to eat some egg yolk because your body still needs cholesterol for cell structure and stuff. However, too much cholesterol is bad. So you can eat the egg yolks and it won't be bad, but just don't eat a ton of it and other cholesterol filled food.

egg yolks has the most nutrients from the whole egg,
but it also has the most cholesterol and fat-which is not really good.


but i hate yolk so there smile.gif im sticking with whites no matter how unhealthy/healthy yolk is XP

if you really like yolk though, its much better(healthier) cooked, than raw smile.gif

& dont eat more than 3 eggs a day since 1 egg is one serving of meat, and your supposed to have 3 servings of meat daily smile.gif

a little bit of cholesterol is good for u.

Almost any types of food is good for you. But too much of anything is bad for you.

Its about balance in life and also balance in yourt diet. You cant quit completely carbs nor can you quit completely fat. So eat, but be moderate
life is a game, play smart...

Kids that are growing need cholesterol intake. Eating the egg yolk would be a good source of energy and if you're an active kid that partakes in a lot of physical activities.
The only thing that makes sense about life is death.

lolz. i ate a boiled egg today and i didnt eat the yolk cuz i'm trying to watch my weight. ^.^ but i think i should start eating the yolk because all of the nutrients. Plus, its better to eat that egg yolk than to eat a piece of chocolate isnt? so maybe, next time i'll eat the yolk and avoid any other more calorie food to compensate. ^.^

Eggs are good for you occasionally, but they're VERY high in cholesterol. The average person should only take in about 200 mg of cholesterol a day, when eggs can have 500 mg or more. :/

And I think it's true that yolks are "worse" for you than the whites. But that depends, because after all it's the yolk that contains nutrients that would nourish the baby bird had it gotten a chance to develop. ^^;;

but i learned that its not that the yolk is bad for you... but it is fattening
so if your on a diet i suggest you avoid the yolk

I've heard stories of people who swallow a raw egg every morning to stay healthy. @______x

But yeah, the yolk is bad for you. A LOT of cholesterol. You should limit yourself to a certain number of eggs a week, depending on your age.
