11 July 2008 (USA)
Plot Outline:
In the Far East, trouble-seeking father-and-son duo Rick (Brendan Fraser) and Alex O'Connell (Luke Ford) unearth the mummy of the villainous first Emperor of Qin (Jet Li) -- a shape-shifting entity who was cursed by a wizard (Michelle Yeoh) centuries ago.
Cast:
Maria Bello ... Evelyn Carnahan O'Connell
Jet Li ... Emperor Han
Brendan Fraser ... Rick O'Connell
Michelle Yeoh ... Zijuan
Luke Ford ... Alex O'Connell
IMDB Trivia:
Rachel Weisz announced that she will not be reprising her role of Evelyn due to different interests with the screenplay. Later on, Maria Bello was announced to replace her.
John Hannah may not be coming back.
There are different rumors going on about why Weisz doesn't want to do Mummy 3.
1. Several sources close to Weisz said she thinks it is a bad script.
2. Weisz's agents said there are scheduling conflicts.
I honestly don't know how Mummy 3 will do. There are already a lot of haters out there because Jet Li is doing a Mummy film and Evelyn's character is being replaced.
I'm sad because Rachel Weisz MADE the Mummy movies, and she had excellent chemistry with Brendan Fraser.
Wikipedia says the third Mummy will be called "The Mummy 3: The Curse of the Dragon." I'm REALLY hoping that's a rumor. =/
Do any of you guys think this will be an awkward movie? Lol!
But I'm still excited because I'm absolutely LOVED The Mummy and The Mummy Returns.

Nowadays everything comes in a sequel, I lost track.
I enjoyed Mummy 1 and 2. I don't know about Mummy 3, but to be fair, I can only comment after watching the movie.

Hollywood should leave movies at their best, not try stretching it to the limit!
Rachel Weisz and John Hannah were my favourite characters

I can't really judge yet, but I'm only expecting it to be an okay movie. Sequels never really are as good as the first one and well, one of the main characters has been replaced. o_O I agree with someone above me. Hollywood seems to be running out of ideas and keeps stretching movie plots on and on.

Most people think of Egypt when they think of mummies, but plenty of other cultures had mummies, including the Chinese and even certain places in Europe. The difference is that the Egyptians mastered the mummification process for thousands of years, whereas throughout history the Chinese struggled to find the perfect means of preservation.
Anyway, this looks interesting. I liked the first one. The second one was a bit disappointing to me if I remember correctly. I don't know what to expect of this one. On one hand it seems interesting that it's China-based, but on the other hand it seems really lame because I feel like it's just following the "Asia is t3h coolies" fad that's been going on.
I'm not expecting it to be good, but I look forward to seeing it anyway.

I agree.
Hollywood always had a curse to mess up a series.

I'm really sad that Rachel Weisz won't be in this movie. I loved her character in the first two. I hope the replacement does a good job as Mrs. O'Connel.
