So I'm having a debate on this for my finals, and I was wondering what other people's opinions are.

Personally, I think they should not be held accountable for health problems since the people chose to eat at fast food places, no one is forcing them to or anything like that. Sure it's bad, but you made your choices so why are you blaming other people who are just trying to make money off the occupation? Don't blame others for your craving ph34r.gif mellow.gif

I dont think they should not because the people who eats in there should know that its their fault for eating the food and not paying attention to it.

Consumers relatively know what their eating. They know its not good for you, and they know it taste good despite it. Fast Food Restaurants should not be held accountable for consumer's actions. If he or she wants to change into a different lifestyle, they can't expect the Fast Food Restaurants to simply disappear to get rid of the cravings they get from watching commercials etc. A person must have self restraint, not blame their eating habits on the vendor.

agreed.

People choose to eat the fast food, so the restauraunts can't be to blame.

i agree too.
although they blame the restaurant for keeping such thing, but actually it was their responsibility for the food that they eat.

although in the debate, there will be a lot of stuff to be thrown at u back.
like because of the media {commercials and stuff = brainwashing}
the wrong content on the labels and such.

restaurants should not be held accountable because fairly, it was the consumers that are responsible for controlling such consumption. business is business, and that's what the fast food business is all about - it's up to you to eat fairly or go overboard.

Even if people choose to eat there, it still causes health problems anyway. Alot of restuarant food isn't even healthy...not just fast food.
The problem is that people eat there. But there really isn't much people can do about it unless they make the food healthier. There are healthier options at these fast food places.

I don't think they should be held responsible for our bad-health eating choices. In the end, it's all up to the individual. Like others have said, they are not forcing us to eat their products. It's not like they have a monopoly or anything. There are a lot of healthier alternatives available to the individual. It's the individual's choice whether or not to eat those healthy alternatives instead.

But if they were to lie on their nutritional facts or something, then they should be held responsible for that.
Cheers!!!

nope... not at all. We know that it's bad for us
and yet we choose to eat it still. It's our responsibility
because of the actions we chooses... so if we
want to put crap in our body... then it's our fault.
Everyone now a day is just trying to make a living...
we have a choose to decided what we want to eat, so
we are RESPONSIBLE for feeding ourself pure SH*t///
Wanna smile for me???

Yup, you yourself have to held responsible over what you ate.
A lot of people knew the calories and the bad stuff in fastfood but still they choose to eat it.
So who's to blame?
Yourself, of course.

If current food items on a fast food menu can be made healthier, fast food restaurants would only sell them if they were forced to. In order to sell cheap and make big profits, they make their food as cheap as possible.

For the most part, it's the patrons who should be responsible for their own actions.

In a way, I believe that the fast food restaurants should feel responsible for selling such a product, but it would be unfair to not include restaurants that don't serve fast food, yet serve food that could be considered unhealthy.
