If you're in-state it should definately be easier, but 3.4 GPA with 32 ACT should definately get you in I have some stats for you.
The top 25-75 percent average on the ACT 23-28. So I mean you'll be way above the 25 percent marker even. Also I mean if you have Extra ciricular stuff to back it up it should be fine....
But then again you're listening to a freshman
Good luck getting into the U of M.

^wow, ur on a perfect GPA... i just read ur topic thingy... haha, i wish i would've done that so i dont have to worry too much. o yea, weighted GPA is 10.86ish so 3.6 ish haha, not too good weight either...
My extra curriculars would include:
violin 6 years, chamber orchestra
tennis 3 years, varsity tennis
160 hours of volunteer over 2 years of being a assistant korean teacher (however, not in national honors society)
thats it... bettering of my chances?
neways, University of Minnesota has different departments, such as IT, business, liberal arts, or college of biological sciences.
Ive also done research, and it shows on average, people getting into IT are in top 10% of class and av. 28.2 ACT and business is top 7% with av. ACT 27.8
Now these are average, and im only about top 30% of class...
haha, basically i made this thread for ppl to say, "Yea your gonna get in" to make me feel better, but give me an honest answer please . thx.

I live in Minnesota and many people in my school usually go on to the U of M. One of my teachers said that many people that got high GPAs but have no honors/AP/IB classes got rejected. Because seriously, some classes don't require that much input to get an A (I've slept in my U.S. History class several times but my grade at the moment is a 100%), so what classes you take DO matter too... so... do you have a lot of higher level classes?
My sister goes to the U of M, and I remember her GPA in her freshman year was terrible (I think there was one 2.8 o_O), but later she got better, but I'm guessing that the bad GPA would pull down the good ones so her GPA was probably not spectacular.
And your ACT score is pretty good.

i takes 2 Ap classes at the moment, and everything is pretty much honors. haha, but the other side is, some ppl take all the hard classes possible and get a bad grade. im kinda like that, but i dont do too bad.. haha also, i think im going to not stress about it anymore, and work hard, and do my best. hehe 0

32 ACT is a pretty good score.
the 3.4 is what you need to kick up a bit. im pretty sure you can do that. everything else looks fine
