I've noticed that people like to ask for suggestions or whatnot on gifts to give for different occasions, be it anniversaries, birthdays, Christmas, Mother's or Father's Day, gifts for friends, better halves etc. So this will be THE official gift thread in the L&R for all of you to ask for gift suggestions, and for those of you who have ideas to help out. All gift threads independent of this pinned topic will thereafter be closed, so please make use of this and don't start new gift topics.
Some guidelines for posting in this thread:
- all soompi & L&R rules apply
- be clear in what you're asking, so that people can help you as much as possible
- pictures are allowed, but try to limit them to a maximum of five
- if your query is better served in the Beauty and Fashion section, please post there instead
- do not quote pictures in your reply
- if you have nothing to contribute, don't spam this thread with useless replies
- once your request is fulfilled, please be nice and say thank you
If there are any questions, please PM me.
Cheers.

I don't have any requests, but rather-- I have suggestions if anyone is interested.
Although many people like to spend money on gifts, I think it to be true when they say that "it's the thought that counts." I also believe that bought-gifts do not mean any less than hand-made ones. However, hand-made ones tend seem more sentimental.
For any & all occasions:
- message in a bottle
- baked goods
- paper cranes or stars (with a message written inside)
you should say something along the lines of "can you unfold paper cranes without ripping them?" or else they may never open them, haha.
- homemade pillow or blanket, if you're the craftsy type
- compilation of fav songs in a CD or tape
- goldfish (real ones)
It's all about thinking outside of the box. Some prefer gift cards and lotion, but some like gifts out of the ordinary. One time I got a friend a trashcan for her room and filled it with candy, photographs, a stuffed animal, a picture book, and socks. She said that it was one of the best gifts she's received in a long time. Put some thought into it, and the ideas will come (:

i love how this thread was made EXACTLY when i needed it =)
does anybody have any ideas on what i should get for a graduation present?
one for a guy & one for a girl.
the guy is extremely kiddish & innocent.
and the girl is the preppy, cute type of girl.
what kind of gift would be good for the graduation present?

Guy... I'm not so sure. (I'm not good with getting guy presents)
Girl... you should get her something cute like the suggestions smooglez gave or, you can do what I did. For one of my friends, I made her a collage in a picture frame. She loved it! If you're really close with that person, it's very memorable and cute. You should put it in a nice picture frame too. You can also get flowers to give her on graduation.

Anyone help me? I'm stuck. My boyfriend and I have our one year at the end of the month. I've thought about it, but I'm not sure what to get him. There's this store and it engraves things. I found a small keychain watch thing that can also hold a small picture inside. He wanted a watch, so maybe this is better? But he might scratch it up... Ergh.

Or... there's also this clock thing. It's sort of the same thing. It opens up and you can engrave it too.

I was also thinking a guy bracelet thing.
Picture of Bracelet << but that's expensive... argh. I'm so cheap haha.
... Well it's only a year... right??? Haha. I like the keychain thing since it's small and cute.
Anyone help me????
Agk. Please?? Anyone. I have to do this in about less than 19 days! AGK!

Anyways, you should make him something homemade if you're that close to him.
Buying things that can be bought anywhere seem to practical.

I don't know how many guys would actually carry around the keychain. o.O It seems more like a girl thing...
If it's not that much more expensive, I'd get him the bracelet. The clock is good too.
What do you think he would like? It's better to spend more on something that he'd love rather than spend less on something that he wouldn't love, but would just appreciate because it's from you...
A bear that says "I'm sorry." =]
Oh, and possibly his/her favorite candy or food that you could make
Good luck

I took pictures of places we had been together [with a digicam] and printed them out on postcard paper [err. part of this was just by accident, and the other part was on purpose]. In the "address" part, I wrote the place (i.e. So-and-so store on this-and-that street) and on the blank space, I wrote what we had done, or something random about the area.
Then I wrote a card where I wrote about how I would miss him, etc.
It's like a scrapbook...on a budget xD

We're not big fans of giving material gifts, but for our one year I would like to
get him something nice. I was thinking a white gold bracelet, since he already has a chain.
Any ideas please feel free
Thank you in advance
