Okay, after I got a speeding ticket in a school zone.. my mom automatically called her friend & she referred us to this guy. All I had to do was pay $250, and I will have no marks on my record or something. My boss told me just to take defensive driving bc it'll be cheaper and etc.

This guy told me that I didn't have to show up for my court date. I'm guessing that $250 is what I am paying him to do? To show up in place of me right? I dont know. I got a letter today from the judge that they have a warrant for my arrest since I didn't show up. WTF is this?

I am kind of pissed off because I never wanted him to fix my problem (my mom was freaking), and now I am confused on whether he was SUPPOSE to show up on the court date (for me) or he didnt have to? (someone please answer this. google is confusing me)

I don't know... but I think I'll have to cough up another $155 for something (it was in the letter) and I want a refund from that guy since I don't think he has done ANYTHING to clear up my record, etc. NA-DA.

Who did your mom's friend refer you to? It sounds like this guy took the money and bailed, but find out what he was supposed to do.

I think if you go to the courthouse/police station and pay the fine in person, you should be fine.

Pay $250 for the traffic ticket lawyer? o__O Why dont you just go to traffic school and lower the fine and drop a possible pt on your record that way?

i always thought lawyers could go to court in your place?

anyhow, the defensive driving thing. those korean driving schools here charge you, i think, $50 or $60, make a copy of your license, and you're out of there in 5 minutes, meaning you don't actually have to sit in for the class. i think it lowers up to 3 points on your driving record and stays with your insurance/discount for up to 2 or 3 years.

It was my first time and my parents never really encoutered a problem like this sad.gif My mom hired this guy before my boss told me about defensive driving and such. Now I tell my mom to get a refund because I'm 95% sure that he was suppose to take my place in court last time since he told me "Don't worry about going to court." I faxed the letter I got from the judge yesterday to him, and my mom said he's going to check it out tomorrow. But, HELLOOO! If he just did his job in the first place, I wouldn't have gotten this letter. I really think he's freaking jipping me off.

My mom was yelling at me saying this guy is trying to help me and I should just lay off (since I was basically yelling everywhere). sleep.gif I don't think I should pay someone for such bad service... especially since I just googled for other traffic ticket lawyers in houston.. and they charge CHEAPER than this turd does. My mom doesn't even let me TALK to this guy. Her friend is basically saying everything is okay and my mom is believing every second of it. BS.

Well how it went for me the 1st time I got a ticket was this. I went to court with my mom (I was 16) and we talked to the judge and I pleaded guilty. With that he lowered my fine from like $200 to something like $110. Then after that, he told me I have the option to going to traffic school to avoid a possible pt on my driving record, which I took. After taking the 6hr course (yes it was like a day in school on a saturday), I was told by the instructor to send the certificate to the court and the ticket would be wiped off my record. All of this took less than a week. I cant recall exactly how much traffic school was but it wasnt expensive. Somewhere around $15-25 or so. Hey it sure beats an increase in insurance rates O__o Now that is something you want to avoid at all costs.

Yeah, first timer will have the fine lowered. I pleaded no contest.
My ticket was $170 something, i forgot.
Because it's my 1st time, the judge lowered it to the minimum, $109.
But unlike Fusion, I wasn't allowed to take traffic school or anything to avoid a possible pt on my driving record.
There's a guy who pleaded guilty, he got the same treatment.

Stupid ass judge. dry.gif
