when you mean expensive, you speak of actually importing it to america no?
Probably ...
Would be a little awkward driving on the right side ...
At least you have a less chance of dying in a collision with a car coming for the other side of the road since the car will hit the passenger first. xD

The lady looked at us like
After she realized it she said that it was cool and asked if it wasn't embarassing having to do that
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now imagine a cop pulling you over
Cop goes to left side of vehicle:
"Sir can i get your license and registration please"
Person on the left (Passenger):
"Uhh...don't you mean his?"
Cop confused:
"No I need the your... Yes I need his"
Driver:
"Here you go sir (with a smile yet sad feeling that he still got pulled over...)

In short they were only supposed to be able to legalize R32's mainly. In order to do that they had to bumper test them (which if you think about it how much would it be to import R34s over here and then destroy them one by one), do a few other things here and there, install air bags (Which like S13s there were none for R32s so they ended up having to use S14 air bags) and blah blah blah this and that, it came out to be a lot of money. So they skipped a lot of steps, the owner got caught, Motorex was shut down and the ones that had been legalized were grandfathered in.
You would probably have to go through the same steps with any car that was not sold in the United States. If you own an oil field or something then go for it. A few cars here and there that you see are what I consider ghetto conversion... they are popular among S13s haha. You get an SR front clip and you are too lazy to do the few monkey tricks needed for it to work (a lot of it being wiring) so you just buy a front clip and use EVERYTHING. And boom instant RHD S13

in either case, the laws depend on where you live. in california the hippy state, the car must go through a thorough crash test rating as the imported car was not built within us's dot/epa specs. however, if the same model car exists then retrofitting the set items to complete dot and epa's specs can be enacted... however, the original importer with a certain license can only do that (ie: motorex and the '95 r33's with dual airbags). for such services to import the car along with insurance and retrofitting the items will cost too much in the long run. in other states, you can drive an imported car as a kit car. basically the car's parts must be dismantled... and when i mean dismantled, everything must be dismantled. the chassis, brakes, body, engine, EVERYTHING. once that is set, you must have the disassembled parts imported, sans the tires, wheels and engine. these parts must be either bought from the US or shipped out in a different container to be thoroughly inspected. once that's said, you can assemble the car by yourself as it is a "kit" car or the importer must do it. insurance will still be a pinkberry though, as the car will be a "kit" car, not a legally natured road car.
most overseas military personnel go through the same process, to bring cars over as kit cars... namely in florida and texas. that's why there are a lot of gray markets for skylines in florida... one in texas just sprung up. they're legally registered by nation, but can only be 49 states legal as california's laws are crazy strict (passing california's strict protocol, and the car is exempt in any state). as for the stolen skylines from motorex's escapade, other non-dual airbag r33's, r32's and r34's that have been sold under the moniker of "legally registered in california" have been exempted by california's own dot/epa status as these owners were duped by motorex. other than that, no other skyline can be 50 state legal without the proper crash test rating and such by the original importer (other importers cannot use motorex's information to pass the '95 r33's).
check out the club nico forums... some rich doctor from az wants a skyline that's 50 state legal, without escaping the loophole system via "kit" cars. lots of information there. good luck.
besides... mail truck/jeeps? drivers are all RHD to access mailboxes easily~ if they can dew it, i am sure you can dew it too.
neener neener... can't catch me~!
