Her recovery suffers a setback when she discovers her father (David Strathairn) has become engaged to her mother's former nurse Rachael (Elizabeth Banks). What should have been a happy family reunion becomes an escalating battle of wills between daughter and the soon-to-be step-mother. One night, Anna is visited by a ghost who warns her of Rachael's intentions. Together Anna and her sister Alex (Arielle Kebbel) try to convince their father that his current fiancé is not who she pretends to be and the family is in danger.

For me, I enjoyed the original South Korean version very much... hopefully this one will be all right too. Then again, most originals are always better.

Aw... they're remaking another movie??? They're so going to wreck this one because of the complicated storyline... it was already so hard to understand in its original form.

I love Elizabeth Banks.

But, no.

Just..... no.
There was nothing to fear,
and nothing to doubt.

america needs to get some better script writers and come up with some good movies on their own.

I.. don't really think America will appreciate Tale of Two Sisters as a horror movie. No offense, but most of the people here go to watch horrors for bloodshed and just mindless crap (and if they don't get that, they call it "stupid"), not the meaning. They should promote it as a psychological thriller instead, so people know what they're getting.

I don't want this masterpiece (meaning the original, the plot) to be looked down upon.

I don't get why people always
complain about remakes!

It's simple

No one is forcing u to watch it
and it's not like the original is going anywhere.

Thank you!

as many times asians remake american songs
no one cares, but when americans remake asian movies
people start trippin rolleyes.gif

Japan is about to remake High School Musical
something that captured the hearts of many american
youth, and it has american culture written all over it
but no one seems to care about that.

I'm excited for that version though, it will be a play
but still.

Ehh, I thought it was all Disney's plan. Isn't there bunch around the world (plays and movies for different parts of the world)? I think I remember hearing about it while watching the Disney Channel.

I didn't know Asia remade American movies, tell me which ones are they? I'll keep an eye out for them. biggrin.gif

^ha! that's interesting, I don't even know one Asian remake of an American movie. you got me. But, can it be for dramas? like kim sam soon/bridget jones' diary? maybe? music influenced/plagiarized?

well, people know that it's a remake, so i'm sure they won't think the original is as sucky as the remake--hopefully. what i'm hoping for the remake is that the movie will make Americans go out and rent the original version--now, this would be spreading the Korean industry to the US a bit.

I said asian's remake many american songs
but they do remake other forgein movies.

I think there is an asian version of that film
"Dangerous Liasons", and I know that "Beijing Bicycle"
was a remake of another forgein film.

I'm just saying asian's remake things also
how come people only get upset at america doing it?

^Ohh, I see what you mean. Sorry, this was a movie thread so I assumed we were talking about movie remakes. Silly me.

What makes it a remake.. because they both talk about fat women? Forgive me, I've actually never watched Bridget Jones' Diary (crazy, I know xD). The music's the same? I never knew. All I know is that SamSoon was adapted from a book and Bridget was as well.

---

There's nothing wrong about remakes. I thought The Departed was done quite well. But there's just too many these days, where's the creativity? Not just American-Asia, but everywhere else as well.

I'm not one of those that are "against it". All I said in my original post was that they shouldn't market it as a horror (because Asian's and America's definition of "horror" seems a tad different). And then when it was brought up, I was just curious which Asian movie was remade from an American one. Now lets all have ice cream.

I was just making a point

the same way american's remake many asian films
many asian artists remake american songs, some have even plagerised
american songs, I can name so many.

America and Asia borrow from each other
but how come people only get on americans for doing it?
It's not like they don't have permission to remake the film.
and people act like if the film is remade the original will banish from the earth, it's not going anywhere.

It's so one sided to me.

and I also don't get why people say they never credit the original

they have to credit the original, in the opening and ending credits they usually let you know that the film is a remake, they even release the original film on dvd.
When the actor and actresses are interviewed they usually explain the film is a remake.

I think theres an appreciation factor?

So many people don't know that The Departed was a remake of Infernal affairs, that the lake house was a remake of Ill mare.
When people remake these movies and dont really give out credit the slightest bit ...its kinda like a backward step.

Yeah its hypocritcal though when Asia remakes American movies and dont do the same thing, but I think people feel so strongly about it because in terms of main stream culture, Asia's films arn't getting the same publicity ..lolz? My explannatory skills just went down ; . ;

Basically people (who havnt seen any asian films) have considered them "inferior", when they go and watch movies without the knowledge that they're remaked they think its spectacular and at the end of the day Asian movies dont get the benefit. I know this is a Generalization, but it does have some merit.

I think if proper credit was given where it was due, there wouldnt be so much negativity towards remakes : /
But thats just my opinion.

But I am looking forward to seeing the movie, original and remake : 3

Until we finally understand for ourselves what Benjamin Franklin really meant.

^I think the wrong people are being blamed then

don't blame the people in charge of the film
blame the viewers for that. because the people in charge of the film
have to credit the original! It is a must

But like I said it works both ways

for instance Tae Yang of Big Bang's "My Girl"
that is a remake and everyone is praising him for that song
also Hyori's "Straight Up" GD's "This Love"
all remakes and everyone is giving them credit for those songs
and make the original artists seem inferior.

That is another example of credit not being given where it's due.

So I still don't get why people only pick on america
