hey guys, i need a new camera and i am making my decision either on the Canon SD800 IS or SD900
i researched, read reviews, etc.
both are great cameras but what are your inputs?
ive read that the SD800 IS was a better choice between the SD900 because of the image stabilization.
so what are your inputs? thanks guys!

Body Material Metal and plastic
Sensor 1/2.5 " Type CCD

---

i'm pretty sure if you use either of them, you will hardly notice the difference except maybe the price.

yeah, i read in reviews saying that you really dont need that much MP unless youre gonna print and crop them.

Why would you want to get Canon?
Its known for breaking easily.

If you want one that lasts long and has good quality, go for Nikon.

i was talking to some sales guys where i used to work and asked him if i should get the image stablizers. He said that for that small zoom and MP it doesn't make taht much of a difference compared to the price.

really? ive heard couple stories of canon breaking easily but not much...
and for nikon, i love the nikon coolpix s50c.
but the only thing i dont like about the nikons are is because of the slow shutter speed..

another alternative is pentax. i've owned canon digicams for the past decade. what a waste imo. i've never liked the flash for these cameras, and the fact that if you try to take a picture indoors you need to be still like a tree or you'll get a blur picture.

i was pretty certain that all digicams are like this until i used my gf's pentax. man, it was like night and day. the blurriness was rare, and the flash didn't make any of the pictures look like "deer in front of headlights" like my previous canon models. great thing is that pentax cameras are like 2/3 price of canons.

^ i have a pentax. it's so blurry. I was wishing i had a canon instead. Maybe it's just my model or camera... or perhaps it's a setting i put it in.

does the sd800is model or something similar come with a smaller screen? i've heard that the larger the screen, the shorter the battery life and having a long lasting battery is important to me.

mmm, i dont think theirs a small screen, but you can always turn off the screen and use the view finder to save battery.

The SD900 has a bigger sensor, which leads to better performance under low light condition. And also higher ISO sensitivity.

just because it has a higher megapixel, doesnt mean it will have better picture quality/performance..

Both seem really similar I would go for the 800.

About Canons breaking mine has been pretty sturdy and I drop stuff alot.

I didn't say a higher megapixal leads to a better performance. What I meant was by the sensor; such as CMOS and CCD sensor. The image sensor that is used to capture the image.
