I'm having trouble in AP AB calculus class so I decided to look around for a private tutor...

but i noticed that korean hakwons in the NJ area charge like 70 bucks(ohmy.gif) an hour...is that the usual?? ph34r.gif

so, does anyone here tutor anyone or get tutored in SAT's or AP's? around how much do you pay or charge?

I got tutored privately for SAT IIC, and the guy charged $50/hour. He wasn't worth all of it, but definitely a lot better than most private tutors.
good day.

I'm getting tutoring for math and same price.

I take SAT classes too
So expensive.. gosh these private tutoring people make a lot of money. If you sit down with a student for like 3 hours thats 150. And then you can go out and buy a nice Coach bag.

wow.
But yeah $70 seems a lot but my sister had biology tutoring $100 per hour .. so yea

That all depends on the tutor. Myself, I'm really cheap; I charge $15 an hour, but $30 if I have to travel to your house. Some tutors are really in need of money (that's why they tutor), and others are extremely generous.
Still young, but I feel incredibly old. Silly me.

well, my sister helped tutor some girl for relatively cheap (i think $20 per session), which was surprising considering she could be deemed the 'expert' on the SATs. (yeah... perfect score)

anyways, i myself tutor for free through the school. we have this afterschool program where we get paired up with someone whos in need of help on a certain subject area that you're confident in. its pretty time consuming, but hey, its about 90 minutes of volunteer service a week.

My tutor in high school was 75$ an hour, but tutored alot of subjects in one session (math, science, latin). I'd say it was worth it. You should really try to find them through word of mouth though, not on websites or newspapers. If your parents ask other parents they'll find a good one in no time, that's how tutors get most of their students..
