If restarting the computer didn't work, then it could be codecs. Remove any old codecs or codec packs and then download CCCP or K-lite. Google them.

the troubleshooting steps in my computer saved my ass. try going to control panel, then choose sounds then look for the hardware tab. there's a troubleshoot button. i found out my driver has a problem so i went to device manager and "upgraded" it with my driver cd in my drive.
