okay i use this program called VSO Convert X to DVD, to convert all my xvid/divx/avi movies to dvd format and then burn them to dvd
now, whenever i watch the dvds at my house, they NEVER skip;... however, if i give it to a friend, or whoever, to barrow, they say the dvd skips like helll.. i've had more then 3 people complain to me about the same problem, but i never ever face that at my house.
is the program crap? is my dvd burner crap? ( which i know its not ) or are my dvd disks crappy ??
im using Starmedia dvd-r disks 4.7gb / 4X

None of the things you listed are crap.
Your friend's DVD players are crap.
You could try getting out of 2004 and buy 16x DVD-Rs though if your "not piece of crap DVD burner" can handle it.

Eh, it can be multiple problems.
- Friends players are old or just can't handle it.
- Burning it at max speed, like 16x, sometimes doesn't work on all players. I've had bad experience with CTXDVD when doing that. Burner is new, disc is new, but the disc or burner just couldn't handle it for a clean result.
You can do a little bit of research at CD Freaks forums if you want to. Lots of information about this type of problem and reasons why.
